Driver's seat noise

I have a '05 Titan SE CC with a power front driver's seat. The seat works fine (except for the position resetting occasionally) except that it squeaks all the time. When I get in, it squeaks. When I hit a bump, go around a curve or look over my shoulder at my kids or to see if I can safely change lanes- IT SQUEAKS!!!

It sounds like the noise comes from the point where the seat back meets the seat bottom. I hear the noise from the back of the seat.

Was in to the dealer for the brake fox and I mentioned the squeak and they lubed the seat rails, but the squeak persists.

One issue may be that I am not a small person, I'm around 300lbs. and I think that my be a contributing factor.

Has anyone else ever experienced this with their Titan? Any suggestions OTHER than drop a few pounds as I already am aware of this need ;-)

Re: Driver's seat noise

Check the TSBs at www.nissanhelp.com I think they have a TSB on squeaky seats.

Re: Driver's seat noise

The TSB is for the passenger seat only. I will call the dealer back and see if they can perform the fix on the driver's seat.

To try to troubleshoot I did the following:

I reclined it all the way and got in, bounced around and no noise. As soon as I raised the seat up to where I was sitting normally it began squeaking again. My thought is to seperate the back from the seat and add some rubber washers or bushings to quiet the squeak.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

George

Re: Driver's seat noise

What up fellas? Yea I have an 04 with the same problem. I think that it is the seat belt! I sprayed some WD40 in the fastener and it quit for a day but cam back. I am going to see if they may replace the latch device when I go in to get my leaking rear window fixed. You may want to live on the edge for a second an ride with the seat belt off to see if it is the belt or the seat. I'm not sure that weight has much to do with it. I'm 200 and a truck this cherry should be able to handle a Man with out squeeks!

Re: Driver's seat noise

I understand what you are saying Truck41. I looked at doing that, but the squeak only occurs when I am sitting normally- with my back against the seatback. If I recline the seat completely and sit on just the seat bottom I cannot get it to squeak. Your fix is definetly worth a shot. I'll report back how it goes...

Thanks guys for the suggestions!

Re: Driver's seat noise

I have a 05 CC SE with Leather and have the same problem with both seats. I'll be taking it in soon. Drives me nuts. I think there is a TSB on this?

Re: Driver's seat noise

ITs almost always the bolts holding the seat to the floor-pan. Even though it sounds like the cusion.

Re: Driver's seat noise

The key difference is that the floor bolt squeak only happens when somebody's fat ol' arse in the chair. The TSB squeak happens when it's empty.

Kinda hard to test the drivers seat empty though huh?!?

Re: Driver's seat noise

Hey, hey go easy on the fat arse jokes! I'm sensitive . Well, tomorrow it goes back to the dealer for a few issues, including the seat squeak. When I get it back I will use the unbolt/rubber washer/grease fix if the noise persists (which I'm sure it will).

Thanks,

George

Re: Driver's seat noise

I've got the squeak as well, but I'm not a fat arse! LOL Im 5'8", 160 lbs. Only occurs when putting pressure on the arm rest or shifting my weight to the right of the seat, etc. Sounds as if it is coming from the seat bottom/seat back joint area?????

Re: Driver's seat noise

unbolt seat, add thin rubber washer, rebolt seat. Should work.
