Now this is funny. I hadn't really noticed those lighting up as I haven't really driven around after dark. A couple of months ago, during the darkness of winter I had to go to the store. Turned the lights on and noticed that one of the lights did not come on. I started messing around with them. came to the conclusion that since the window allows for drainage of rain into the truck that it must have shorted something out.
I promptly went to the dealership the next day and told them of my concern. The poor kid that was the service writer checked it and confirmed my suspicions, yup, it wasn't working. He disappeared into the shop, running around like chicken little trying to figure it out. Not being in any real hurry I retired my aging and decrepid body to the front showroom to drool over the receptionist and the other new cars.
A few minutes passed by and the kid shows up again all red faced. He explained to me that there is not a light on that switch. We then proceeded outside to a brand new truck so he could show me.
To my embarrassment and dismay I found that he was correct and I made one of the fabled assumptions. To cover for his not knowing this, he assured me that he checked with several of the mechanics to affirm that fact.
I left chuckling to myself and watched as he walked away shaking his head. Too bad all troubleshooting experiences don't go that easy.
