You stil need to insert the key, turn it to on before you can push the button.
Here's a good link, it's for a different vehicle but the concept and hook up is the same for any vehicles. http://www.freecarkits.com/pushbuttonstart.htm

I dunno why someone would want to add it if you still need a key....

You still need a key to drive it. The immobilizer only allow for it to start with out inserting the key but a key has to be turn to ON for the steering lock to be release as well as other function in the vehicle.

i had those in my Camry before... when i was crazy modding for car shows... yea you still need a key and the reason is... if you just have bypass a engine start button w/o using the key... and your car would be jack very easy... that's why you need to put in the key and press it.. it's useless to me i guess... just for the look... i use to hide the start button to somewhere i know.... i guess that's another anti-theft item... because i had mine set where the key can't start the car anymore... only if you put in the key and press the button then the engine would start... the engine won't start by using the key alone... i rerouted my starter line to the button...
useless with the key, or risky without the key. then again, if you drive office - home you may not need a key.

Well I think it is possible. On my grand vitara (new one) I had the keyless engine start. You just walk near the car and it unlocks, then when you sit in a car you can turn it on without inserting a key (it just has to be inside, thats it)

I love that feature - I have a Prius and keep the key in my pocket (it's not even a key really). You approach the car, it unlocks your door automoatically, you get and press the brake - push the START button and u go. Nice!!!
I'd love to get in my Titan, push a button and drive off.
The only way it would work is by putting a mechanical relay in the steering wheel. Once the key is in the proximity of the truck, the relay would release the pin that locks the steering wheel. Then you could push the button and start the truck.
