More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

Just wondering if I am in the majority or the minority in thinking that it is much more useful for me to be able to fold the rear seats of my CC Titan up against the rear wall in order to have have a larger/better cargo area VS having reclining rear seats like the new Tundra Or Dodge MegaCab. (I am hoping that I am not alone in prefering the fold-up seats so that the Titan doesn't follow suite just to "keep up" with the competition)

Most of the time my rear seats are folded up so my dog isn't on them and I don't have to worry about what I throw back there (I have covered the entire rear floor with a rubber bed mat I cut to fit). Of course I don't have kids and rarely have passengers in the back seat for any extended periods of time though I have spent a multi-hour stint in my Titans rear seat while on a road trip last summer and didn't find the rear seats too bad (in fact I was pleasently suprised w/ how comfortable I was)....They are just not nearly as fun as the drivers seat .

Fold up is priceless when you have gear to stick back there or dogs to haul around on a blanket ect...

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

I think reclining rear seats is a stupid idea as well. I was able to haul a fairly large television and stand in the back seat area of my truck thanks to the fold up seating. Like others said it's good for dogs too.

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

Well, in the Titan we have the best of both worlds already: Reclined AND folding.

If this poll were for the (regular) Dodge RAM, I would say reclined/ing would be more important. The RAM's back seat is very upright, making it very uncomfortable to sit there. That's why Dodge had to create the Maxx cab. In the Titan, the seat is already reclined, so we don't have to worry about that and can choose to have folding be more important.

Even so, since I have people back there frequently, I would choose to have them recline more for more comfort over having the seats fold.

As far as dogs: well, I bought seat covers so he can sit on the seat and stick his head out the window. He would probably die of curiosity if I made him sit on the floor and he couldn't look out.

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

I think the guys at nissan are smart enough to do both in the future. think about it.. instead of having the rails that the seat slides on underneath they could mount them to the back wall and as the top slides down the bottom would be kicked out with some fancy type of locking hinge??

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

I kind of like the way they work now: I can fold the seat(s) up and out of the way when I have something big and messy I want to put on the floor. I fold the top down and my 20L NATO-spec gas can fits perfectly behind the seat. It even stayed put yesterday when some jerk rear-ended the truck.

My vote is fold up, I love the extra room you can get. i think that the rear seats are at a nice reclined level as they are

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

Both would be nice but folding the seat bottoms up is priceless IMHO. A little seatback adjustment, maybe not actual "reclining", would be a plus but less usefull.

Fold up. The extra space is invaluable when hauling tools and having to park somewhere.

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

Fold up is definitely better for a truck. The reclining seat is better for a car since it is smaller. The CC titan is already so big the seat has a good default recline.

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

Fold up!! The extra space is a HUGE bonus with the truck, and keeps it a truck. The reclining design with zero under seat storage design (along with the bed options) were total deal killer for me with the 07 tundra vs. 07 titan. I got the titan LE instead. I can put both my kids on the 60 bench, fold the 40 bench up and my dog has a nice spot to sit/lay while we go on a trip.

I'm sorry, but the reclining rear seat is just stupid for a truck. If I wanted a SUV I'd go buy an SUV. I can store my hunting rifles, gear, etc under the seat easier then behind it and still have plenty of room for passengers.

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

Fold up, without a doubt. It's me and wifey and two dogs 99% of the time. For that, the fold up feature is worth TONS more than the back seat comfort for a passenger.

Re: More Important: Rear Seats that Recline Or Fold up?

Well I am glad to know that I am squarely in the majority on this one and hopefully Nissan pays attention to what people actually want rather than blindly following the competition so that our Titans keep their functionality.

I like the seat cushion to fold up and seat back to fold down
