Does anyone have the magic formula for truly clean windows? I've tried every product I can find, soft towels, harsh towels, newspaper, paper towels, direct sunlight, shade, vinegar - even paint thinner and all I ever end up with is a smear job. I know it's me too as the same thing happens no matter what vehicle I'm cleaning. Can someone please help? Thanks everybody.

Goto your local car store and pickup these two things...
Thanks to the big blunt nose of my constant companion Chance the American Bulldog (Dog's LOVE Trucks - can't keep him out of mine!) Clean glass is truly impossible!

check out properautocare.com they have some decent info on glass, and a lot of good info on paint care! I haven't tried anything special for glass, but yeah, I end up with smear's too. Of course they aren't noticeable until night, when it's most frustrating!

It's not just the outside that needs the cleaning. You need to also clean the inside too. See, a thin film of (whatever) builds up over time and makes it look like your windows are dirty! So, clean your inside too.
A word of advice: I don't think it's worth bothering with window polish for our trucks, though... so don't waste your money!!!!
This may seem akward but it works amazingly. Use any kind of paint wax/polish and then wipe off w/ a dry clean terry towel. This works best for those hard to remove dried water spot stains.

Turtle Wax's Clear Vue window cleaner, awesome stuff... first time I used it, quite some years ago in another ride, the passenger window looked like it wasn't even there, tried to throw a cig butt out and found out it was indeed not open as suspected... left a nice melted hole in my all weather floormat...

The cleaner you use depends on the dirt you have. after researching this, it would seem to me you need to use at least two different cleaners, one right after the other for the different types of dirt on your windows.

I spray on glass cleaner and wipe it dry to clean the glass. Then I wet a towel with only water and wipe it on to remove the glass cleaner then dry in it's entirety with a soft diaper.Must do this when cool and in the shade.
I talked to a professional glass cleaner (high rise) and he uses dawn and water. Very light suds in the bucket and he said the key was to use cold water and not wash them in the sun. If he has to clean in the sun, he adds ice to the water to keep it cold.
