I use towels in mine too keep things from getting messed up. I have slip covers on the seats, but still use towels too keep thing from poking or scratching stuff up. Gray towels in my case, big and small ones. The sock is a good idea. Maybe you could find tube socks if they still make them, they would fit better and look OK.
