Re: manual to power windows

i used a spal kit i bought on ebay for $35(no switches with the kit) and works awesome. power windows and locks. its easy to do its just the running of the wires that takes the most time. it took me about six or seven hours total but the end result was well worth it and i had to also wire the door locks to the alarm for keyless entrance. take your time and run all your wiring first it will make it easier.

Re: manual to power windows

I to am planning on doing this.. Ive called a few shops, including the dealer, and they said it would not be worth the money that it would cost.. But after reading this, im gonna do it myself.. Im pretty mechanically inclined and have always done most of the mods and repairs to my own vehicles.. It would be nice to a full write up on this!!

dealer wants to put in oem equipment. not after market.oem is too expensive and more of a pain to install.

Re: manual to power windows

Has anyone used factory switches with this mod?? I think it would look cleaner if you could use them..

Re: manual to power windows

I put in the power locks and windows over the holiday weekend. The only thing I didn't do yet is tap in to power. Any suggestions for Ignition source power for the power windows?

Re: manual to power windows

i used the red acc. wire at the ignition switch.

30 on the relay goes to the battery 12 volt constant( 25 amp fused)
85 is ground
86 goes to the red wire on the ignition switch
87 goes to the window switches( 25 amp fused)

Re: manual to power windows

i too bought a xe with nothing on it. i went with spal power window kit. get the switch kit from them its perfect. i also got the lock kit but had problems with the cable splice( no good ) i bought the oem power door lock motors...works perfect supppppper easy install swaps out the door lock and out the new powered in done with some wiring and works perfect. dont get the cable splice kit its not worth the trouble...i got locked out a few times...i would lock other times....get the oem locks from a le or se....plus you loose a key hole on the passenger side...better a+++
