Leather seat conversion

I am looking at doing the leather seat conversion VERY SOON. I have looked at a couple of brands and vendors and am still in the research phase. If any of you have done this or have done research I am looking for input. The prices range widely from ebay ($399) to a couple grand from the dealer. I am not a rich man but I don't want to throw money away on an inferior product either. Thanks for any and all input.

For what it's worth, I have heard nothing but good things about Katzkins.....

Re: Leather seat conversion

I got my katzkin at promotiontuning.com for just under $700. I'm in the process of installing them right now. Since I only get Sundays off, it will take me a couple of weekends to do. It took me about 4-5 hrs to do the front passenger seat, I'm taking it slow, don't want to tear something. Everything fits perfect so far, the only complaint is that they did not come with the holes for the headrest. I went with the two tone, black and one of the greyish colors, I can't remember which one. I ordered the sample kit to get the exact color matching. It did take almost a month to get the covers in from the time ordered. I will post pics when I'm done.

You are a brave man. I don't think I would tackle this myself, I was planning on having it done for me while I sat somewhere having a beer.

Why not buy a couple of leather seats from a wrecked Titan? Easy install, and probably cheaper than eBay even.

This would be a good concideration normally but I have read over and over most people feel the aftermarket leather looks and feels better than the OEM leather nissan uses in the Titan. I wish this wasn't the case though because it sure would save some work.

Re: Leather seat conversion

Probably a good decision to try the aftermarket world, seeing as how Nissan cut corners on their cloth fabric it may carry over to the OEM leather as well.

Re: Leather seat conversion

Not to mention the fact that the factory rear "leather" seats are actually vinyl, as most sub-luxury vehicles do. The biggest plus, however, to finding factory ones is the fact that they're heated. Then again, what a pain in the keister to have to wire everything, find a new console with buttons, find new door panels with memory buttons......go with the Katskins.

Re: Leather seat conversion

Actually, the front seats are "pleather" too. Only the seating areas are real leather.

Re: Leather seat conversion

Well fellas, I'm done. It actually wasn't to bad at all. Over all it probably took me about 11 hrs ( I move slow). Looks really good, the colors are almost the same as what HPDTITAN posted. I probably won't get any pictures to post until the weekend, been pretty busy with the holidays, I also have to get it cleaned up. Quality and fit looks good, then only complaint is that it did not have some of the holes cut into them i.e. headrest, armrest, lumbar support lever.

Re: Leather seat conversion

Somewhat on topic, but if the OEM seats are leather, as well as memory, are the buttons located on the seat, or are they on the door/dashboard?

Also, assuming the seats are power, do all titans come pre-wired for the additional plugs?
