Console rattles??

Just a little tip for those like me who can't stand a rattle in the cab of your truck. My cup holders in my console annoy me when my coke can is empty, plus a lip balm or loose change rolling around on starts and stops. I took a sheet of dark gray felt 1/8" thick and cut my patterns out to fit the bottom of the holders and the inside tray of the console. Put a lil glue down and stick your felt in and no more rattles of stuff sliding around. Cost is a couple of dollars, and 30 minutes. Simple but effective.

That's cool that she was willing to share her knowledge.

The felt is a good idea. I am a stickler for rattles and noises. The empty coke can (or "pop" can for the northern members LOL) really gets to me after a while.

Your city is actually big enough to have a West Monroe. I am willing to bet there are more cows than people on the west side of the Monroe I live in.

Now that made me laugh. I guess it hits home because my wife always leaves her half empty water bottles in my truck and that drives me nuts. Can't count how many time we argued over them. I finally gave up and take them out of the truck and through them in her car when I walk by it in the garage. She is starting to get the point.

For the bottom of the cup holders I cut up some mouse pads and placed them in the bottom. The rubber cover of the cup holder is held down by a couple of nubs into holes in the console. I lifted the rubber up and took some 3M window weld, which is like a sticky rubber, tar like rope caulk that is used for installing windshields. I laid down some of this window weld on the console and using my finger, stretched it very thin, then pressed down the rubber cup holder onto the console. No more issues with noise.

I also removed the console and lined the inside edges with rubber foam around the perimeter so that it no longer rattles. While in there, I lubed the plastic gear shift parts with some hot sauce fishing reel lube so that it shifts more smoothly and is less noisy. For the plastic dust shield where the shift lever fits through, on the underside I also have some foam that rides against it, and keeping that piece from rattling. I wish I had taken pictures to show.
