alternate places for accessory light switch?

All of my switch locations are being used, except one behind the shifter next to the tow button. This is not exactly where I want it, but will use it if I have to.

I was toying with the idea of moving the rear sonar disable switch over behind the shifter and installing the light switch in it's place but I don't know how difficult it would be to extend the wiring.

Anyone come up with some creative places to mount one or two accessory light switches?? The other thought I had was to mount the switch onto my sunglass holder since I never use it. Keeping the switch overhead might not be a bad move, but wiring up the A pillar and through the headliner does not sound like fun. Just an FYI I purchased the Pathfinder/frontier light switch to try to keep it looking as OEM as possible.

Thanks in advance for any ideas. I will probably try to do this install over the weekend once my lights come in.

Steve

Re: alternate places for accessory light switch?

Do you have the overhead compartment without the temp/compass? If so mount a few switches up there and have them already wired in case you'd like to add anything else...

Upload a pic of your interior too if you can, then we could play around in photoshop and see what we can come up with =)

Good luck!

Re: alternate places for accessory light switch?

Thanks Rybo- unfortunately for this project I do have the temp/compass/sunglass unit with the sunroof and so don't have a lot of room for anything up there. That would normally be a great place for multiple switches though. My ultimate goal was to have a pair of long distance lights and a pair of higher wattage driving lights, with a switch to control each pair. But since I really don't have any decent room for additional switches, I'm sorta limited.

Since I plan on running my accessory lights independently of my normal lights, the switches can't be placed where they are easily bumped by mistake.

I was just hoping someone else might have run into the same situation and came up with a good solution.

Thanks
Steve

Here is a picture of my switch box. There are more shots in my gallery.

Re: alternate places for accessory light switch?

Smoke- nice setup. If I had more switches to install, that would be the way I would go. My original plan of the older frontier OEM switch is falling apart since they are now discontinued. My parts guy had been trying to get one for a few days now and is trying to go through the few dealerships that have them in stock still. Said there are exactly 8 left in inventory country wide and all are at dealerships.

I'll just probably mount the switch that came with my KC slimlites and be happy with that.
