Inverter issue

I wasn't sure where to put this thread but considering the inverter and outlet are hardwired inside the truck, I opted for this forum.

Anyway, I plugged in a small hand held game today and the ac power wouldn't allow the game to come on. The power adapter said it converted 120v 50/60Hz 6W AC to 9v, 500mA DC.

At first thought it was the inverter but I tried a small lamp and small hand held blender (it was handy) and both worked just fine.

The inverter is a 150W one so everything I tried should have worked.

Any ideas why the game wouldn't work? It worked fine plugged into a house outlet.

Re: Inverter issue

Not to get technical, but most inverters give off a square sine wave versus a curved sine wave that generators give off. That power adapter might just be sensitive to the square wave. There are quite a lot of electronics that either won't work or don't work well off an inverter.

Re: Inverter issue

The inverter came as part of a game interface. It's supposed to run a PS/2, XBox, etc... perhaps those are more forgiving than an AC adapter.

In this case the AC to DC adapter is weird considering I started with DC. Maybe I can find a 12v adapter for the thing.

Re: Inverter issue

150watts does not seam like a lot of power for the inverter. What gaming system are you attempting to plug into it?

For me when I drop the XBOX360 into the Titan, I will be getting a pure sine wave power inverter.
