Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

I've only just started looking around at aftermarket sunroof/moonroofs as it is one item that I really wish that I had on my truck. I love the look of rcantu's webasto panaramic sunroof and I also checked out the inalfa unit but could not find out much info on their product. My question is structurally, does it hurt to have one of these installed? Also how proned to leaking are aftermarket sunroofs? Like I said I really miss having a sunroof and I will probably go to a local dealer to ask some questions but just wanted some feedback from the TT guys and girls.

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

I wouldn't worry so much abotu the sunroof itself but the quality of the "Installer". Big project, make sure who ever does it you get good feedback about them. Goodluck.

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

I agree with you both

GrayB - the webasto is SICK!!! I've seen rcantu's in person, and it makes me wish I had it too

BBF - yes, the installer is the key component here! I'd get references, and double and triple check them on a job like this. hhahah

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

There are a bunch of dealers in my area but I don't know of anyone who has experience with them.

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

Inalfa is junk!!! I've installed 4 of them, and 3 have come back with stripped gears in the gear box for the open/close. They are very affordable. I'm gonna do the webasto in mamma's Armada. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

I had an Inalfa installed in my '04 Titan and never had any problems with it up until the day it was totaled.

I just had an Inalfa installed in my new '08 Pro-4X a few weeks ago.

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

Would the webasto panaramic sunroof fit a KC?

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

I had an aftermarket roof put in by the dealer (well, the dealer's subcontracted shop) when I bought my 200SX-SER many moons ago. I never had any trouble with it in the 3 years I owned the car. I have no idea what brand it was. I do recall that it had more "features" than the stock roofs did at the time - more levels of control over opening/closing, etc.

Man, sometimes I miss that car. It was FAST!!!!

Re: Aftermarket sunroofs quality?

I have an inalfa in my car, its siliconed shut because the gears stripped and it didnt have the strength to close it locked. I want another but its too iffy about their quality, from my past experiences. I've also installed many that dont leak. So its not an installer issue.

1BadTitan, did you install the webasto yet? Summer is almost here and I'm really wanting a sunroof.
