Help: Gum on cloth armrest

So apparently one of my douchebag friends somehow got gum on his shirt and now I have it on the armrest.

What product/method is best to get it off? Tan interior and red gum...looks great!

Re: Help: Gum on cloth armrest

Ouch, I had a similar experience the other day. I took off some old seatcovers that had a rip down the center, as i took them off i noticed one of my douchebag friends had also done the same thing hahahaha and it was hardened and black on the back of my tan seats. i used some interior cleaner from pep boys and my finger nails and i got most of it off...im gonna do it again later today...ill see if i can find the name of the stuff i used, i know its in a blue bottle and its under 5 bucks.

This may work well. Be careful though. Gum usually requires a solvent based product to break down the gum. You may be left with a oily spot after it dries...Just follow up with a foam cleaner and a towel to rub it out...Should be good after that.

Try to freeze the gum do that you can pull it off in hard pieces. Ice cubes or electronic freeze spray should do the trick. Then remove the residual gum with the solvent.

Re: Help: Gum on cloth armrest

FREEZE IT!!!!!!!! I work at a school I am the head of grounds, but the guys inside use a can of stuff called "GUM GO" Its a can of freeze spray they use on the carpets to take gum off. Ive seen it work. Freeze it then use a putty knife and gently scrape back and forth then freeze again and repeat. IT WORKS. I don't know if you can buy it in the store but maybe something like it. Id check radio shack for the electric freeze spray mentioned above. I would not use a solvent though.

Re: Help: Gum on cloth armrest

gum will come out...It's the stain left over from the red dye#30 that will prove interesting. if for some reason you cannot get the color out...try your local detailer. ask him if he has any interior color match for it. It may be able to be spot blended. I used to do it all the time when I owned my detail business.

Re: Help: Gum on cloth armrest

WD40 works awesome on gum, then use a mild cleaner to remove the oily residue.

Re: Help: Gum on cloth armrest

Here are some links for some freeze spray. Definitely would suggest this first before a solvent:
