Re: Need Help!

I used some 5mm blue led with a 360 degree viewing angle. Not really that bright because the a/c control faceplate has a tint to them. Try this website http://www.superbrightleds.com/

Re: Need Help!

The bulb is somehow glued or attached to the base which is soldered on. If you want to change the color then just replace the whole thing with an led, don't forget to use a resistor. Don't have any night pics.

Re: Need Help!

Just follow the height of the original bulb and the base. Solder the resistor and the led together and cut the terminals so the height of the resistor and led matches the height of the original bulb. I think with these leds you might have to go a little higher to fit the led which is fine so long it clears the control knob. When replacing leds with bulbs on a circuit board you need a resistor. Part #RL5-B08-360. If you think this led is too big then you can go with a 3mm, but the viewing angle is about 30 degrees, not much.

Re: Need Help!

so you solder the resistor leads and the leds lead to the same spot? what size resistor did you use? and cut the lead the same length of orig bulb or longer

Re: Need Help!

Heres current flow: circuit board to one side of resistor, the other side of resistor to led, then led back to ciruit board. I used 510 ohm resistors. The shifter uses a bigger bulb which is removable. Didn't change mine yet because the PRNDL screen is tinted and not sure if the blue would shine through.
