Door Panel Discoloration

I have an '04 LE Crew Cab with the darker gray interior. I have noticed that on both doors at the top edge about where the window controls are I am starting to see some discoloration. Its a bit difficult to explain exactly where it is so I will try to get some pictures uploaded tonight. I tinted the driver and passenger side windows and I use a sunshade but I bought the truck used and didn't really notice until the light hit it as I was driving. Now it drives me crazy. Has anyone else had discoloration in their dash/door panels in the darker gray color and if so how did you fix or live with it? -Thanks!

Re: Door Panel Discoloration

Most likely from previous owner not tinting the 3 front windows

Tinted my windows use a dashmat in the summer as well as some type of protectant.

Re: Door Panel Discoloration

I have been meaning to post about this. Thanks for the reminder. I have the discoloration in the same spot. Window were tinted from day one and I use a shade for the windshield. Still, my Titan is in the garage most of the time. I hope it isn't the interior cleaner that I use from Griot's Garage. The rest of the door looks OK.

Me too, my Titan almost always sits in the garage, and still gets this. Every now and then I put some protectant on it and it helps for a while, but after a week or two it comes back.

Re: Door Panel Discoloration

I have the same problem with tinted windows from day one. I've never put any protectant on the plastics. What do you suggest for the interior plastics.

Re: Door Panel Discoloration

I have the same problem on my 09 and also had it on the 04 - both vehicles tinted, sadly they do not (did not) fit in the garage

So anyway I was thinking that the discoloration was actually due to the tint, meaning the water the installer used to put the tint on is what is staining the door panels, a combination of the water and glue from the tint that is squeegeed off during the install - thoughts?

That is a possible reason. But if that were so then I would have discoloraion all along the bottom of the window. So far I only see it on the front doors close to the dash.

Re: Door Panel Discoloration

IT comes from moisture. If the it gets wet and u don't wipe it off, it dries and causes it to discolor ur panel.

I could see that on the driver's side since I open and close it and get rain and snow on the inside of the door. But I'm pretty good about drying it off. The passenger side is different since I seldom have anyone there. So I'm not sure I buy into the moisture idea.
