Alright so i have a 06 XE CC Without the overhead console, i purchased an overhead to possibly retrofit in the truck. I would love to know if anyone has done this?
i pulled the headliner down yesterday, how in Hell do you get it out of the truck!!!! i sat there for a good 20 minutes trying to think without destroying the headliner how to get it out of the truck?
so i put it all back together and came to this awesome web site where i have had lots of luck with great people helpin out, let me know if anyone has any insight on if i should just scrap the idea or if its possible, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks..
Related but completely useless to you. Reminds me of a time a few years back when me and my buddy tried to fit a spare rear door of a dodge stratus inside of a dodge stratus. Yeah...doesn't fit.
i dont know about removing either one just for a headliner i might try taking the front seats out but will see if anyone has any other suggestions please feel free happy holidays!!
the truck is headed over to my local appolstery shop next week for a professional wrap I was not comfortable cutting the headliner my self and there going to wire the extra lights , I purchase the consol from a wrecked Titan I'll let ya know how it turns out
I put one in mine...still havent gotten around to getting the lights to work (I'm taking the compass/temp sensor bar out cause I'm not spending a crapload of money for a new wiring harness) All I did is leave the headliner in, and mock up where the console goes (Pretty Easy To See) You'll notice you have to cut 3 seperate rectangles to allow the console to seat flush with the headliner, and it pops in to 4 tabs in the front and rear, however you'll come to find out that there's no way to support it in the middle, so the headliner will hang below the console...shoving TP up in between the roof and console helped me alleviate the problem =)
BTW: PLEASE ask the shop how they tapped into the wires to make the lights work, thats all I'm looking to do with the overhead console! And fiberglass 2 gauges in where the temp sensor/ compass go =)
As far as i know thats is exactly what they are going to do its been raining here so i havent made it over to the shop i called the guy today and he said they are going to tap into the existing cabin light and it will function with the existing. i looked at it my self and it looks a little complicated, ill let ya know when its all said and done
to get it out of your truck you may have to remove you front seat and the slide it out the back door you might be able to adjust the front seat in a way that you and wiggle it out the back door!
