water temp gauge used as a tranny temp gauge?

ok, so before i bought my titan, i had a fully built race car and i had an array of gauges in it (oil pres, oil temp, water temp. etc). and before i sold the car, i took out the gauges thinking that id sell them later on (among other things).

anyways, ive been in the market for a transmission temp gauge since i dont have BT. i happened to be looking at my old gauges and was wondering if i could use the water temp gauge as a tranny temp gauge. online, it says the gauge is for water/oil temp. it goes from 100-300 degrees F and most tranny temp gauges are from 100-250 anyways.

so with the right lines and fittings..can this possibly work? heres a link of the gauge that i have Defi - Racer Gauge
