I am thinking about embroidering my head rests. Has anyone else done this? I would love to see some pics. Take a look at what I was thinking and opine please.
i think it looks good. the only thing i would do is simplify the flames a little just so the overall design isnt so busy looking, but if the embroidery is large enough it would look good as is. what color is your interior?

Good to hear from a fellow firefighter. My interior is the two tone grey. I did the design in those colors, but I am not stuck on them. I am not sure what colors to use yet. I think I want the "Titan" to match the blue grey color in the center of the seats. I am not very sure about the black part though. I also thought about putting red in it to match the exterior but that might be a little much.
Maybe if you did a red trim or something like that it might look good. The blue grey would look good for the titan part, and maybe a dark grey or gunmetal with the red trim. So what department do you work for?

Interesting looking. Are you going to do it directly on existing fabric or will this be a cover?

I know one guy on here or CT, I can't remember, got his headrests embroidered and it looked really good. It's a nice custom touch. So nice I am going to get mine done to. I found a cheap place that will do them and they do good work. Just take of the head rest and they say they can knock em out in a day. I like your design too. I should come out good.

Out of curiosity about how much are you expecting to pay? I like the idea of embroidering the headrests but i've never really looked into it.

For what I want the guy is only charging me $50. For both! Simple 2 color design. I am sure if you do something crazy it would be more, also depends on the shop.

It is a pain to get those off and on again LOL. good luck with that. I think the logo doesn't look to bad, the flames take a bit away from the Titan part I think, I had mine done by Katzkins when I ordered my leather but it is in the back of the seat and not the headrest. Here is a link to that pic http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u...nterior018.jpg
Not sure if your colors are the same but the one I see in this post wouldn't go to good with the color of the seats unless it is just my monitor. The Titan is too light and too greenish IMO, but like I said could be just color on computers, cuz that is never the color in real life. I found that out looking at colors for my Katzkins vs the color interior of the truck. If nothing else from my seat pic you can picture it a bit better maybe so that you see in your mind what it might look like. My seat colors are grey and ash is the middle insert color.

I like it, never been a big fan of the flames, but that looks clean!

Thanks for all of the honest opinions. I am going to play with it some more when I get the time. I'll post pics of anything that looks decent. I have found some small details in the flames that I don't like. I want it to be perfect before I actually put it on the fabric. Once its there, its there.

I tried a red outline on the black part. Good idea, but it didn't look real good. I think I like the more subdued look. I work for a small department in Woodland Park, Colorado just west of Colorado Springs. I noticed you're union. How do you like it? We have been thinking about joining.

Yes i want to put it directly on the existing fabric. I love the look and feel of the stock seats and don't want to loose that with covers.

The colors on the image are not an exact match. I am actually undecided on the flame part. I have thread to match the grey in the center of the seats for the Titan part.
You might want to talk to him again, cause I have yet to find anyone ANYWHERE near that price. The best I have found is a friend that owns an embroiding shop and would do some race seats for $150 each using the logo below in 1 color, normal price is $225 and up.
Here's my brother's seats, the shop that did it charged $300 each cause of the leather
It's at this Mexican shop that does upholstery too. I have seen pics of their work and it's good work. I mean a machine pretty much does the whole thing. I have cloth seats and he said it's no problem cause the material is not thick. He said it would be like doing a hat. I know you get what you pay for but all thier work I have seen is clean so I probably am going to go with them. I am sure they are hurting for business too because the economy. So they are willing to do it cheaper than normal.
