I bought a 08.5 XE and it did not have Cruise. I have installed the steering controls and that went in with no problem. I have gotten the run around from local dealer on what I need to do to get cruise working. Obviously nobody there knows and does not want to look it up. I have the fuse pre-installed in the dash fuse block but nothing under the hood that I can find??? But that is the issue I don't know what I need. I hope I can just get the computer to switch it on. Please help!

I'm pretty sure, that the ECU is different for the Cruise Controlled trucks. Nissan has lots of ECU's! I don't think you can get a reflash to update it. Confirmation will come from somebody.
Adding Steering Wheel Remote Radio to a Mid Line 6 Cd System can be done easy, but not cruise control.

I talked to an installer today here in Colorado and he said that they were in the process of making the kit available and to check back with him in about a month. Hope this helps.

xe with no cruise? damn. nissan is getting cheaper.
Not really, always been available. XE without the Preferred Package. KC even has roll up windows. Not common, but many guys have them. I got the CC XE/Pref PKG/BT/Trac Control/Bench Seat, added the Steering Wheel Radio Controls, and it worked out really well for us. Just didn't need more than that.

Thanks for your input but do you have any more info? Cruise is the only item I really miss on this truck. I have hand crank windows and no power anything but I drive on the freeway enough to really miss the cruise.
I was told that also, but I stopped listening to Nissan after I realized that they can't do anything I want so I talk after market guys now. This company, Maxair, is the one that adds cruise for cars and he said a kit was coming. But I have heard about the ECU problem also.

Thx for everyones responses. It is complete BS that you cannot add cruise. Even if there is a wireing/ECU change we need to know what it takes. I ask if there was a differrent part# ECU for Cruise and my local parts guy looked totally confused I would ask such a question......... That when i Came here asking questions.
hey, ya'll laugh but i have the crank windows and manual locks. the truck i had before didn't have them so i don't miss them.
this truck came with cruise so i don't have to worry about that. that was the one luxury thing i said i needed. i would have asked for a/c but you can't get one without it.
i didn't want carpeting. i track mud and grass into the cab and the carpeting is a constant hassle. i wanted vinyl seats and floors. i think the dealer thought i was a loon. they said only carpet was available. i miss being able to hose out the cab like my old truck.
good luck trying to add cruise.

Did I read that correctly? You have an KC XE without Preferred Package, but it has the OEM Cruise Option on it? Did you buy it new and order that?
I don't recall how I got cruise, if it is because of the PP (I think it was that), or the fact it is CC and they all have it possibly. We do get the electric center window on CC from 06 and up.
As for ECU's, the parts counter doesn't have a listing for selling different ECU's to install new options. Lots and lots of variatiions of ECU PN's, even for identical features, the coding changes. Maybe ask UpRev if it can be done. I doubt it is worth the hassle, probably way beyond anything reasonable...
