Hmm never thought of that..but then again, I always have it concealed on me..and for long trips (longer than an hour) i just toss it in the open cubby where my console shifter is.
But....you gotta take the time to open the center console. What carjacker is going to wait whilst you gather your things?
If a carjacker can step up and get the drop on you before you can take the 1-1.5 seconds to open your console and draw your weapon, you are in Condition White. Your situational awareness sucks, and if you're not going to pay attention to the world around you, you probably shouldn't be carrying a weapon at all, since it's likely giving you a false sense of security that could be deadly.

Definitely not legal in Cali. Concealed carry needs a license here that is relatively difficult to get, and a serious felony getting caught without the license and a concealed gun.
Do you mean that California FINALLY changed the law regarding concealed firearms? Back when I lived there, a decade or so ago, the first conviction of carrying a concealed weapon was just a misdemeanor after that I believe it became a felony. I carried and figured if I were ever caught I'd eat the misdemeanor and maybe rethink the whole deal about risking a 2nd event. It's too bad that California doesn't treat concealed carry more like North Carolina.

actually you are right on that one... but still harsh penalties nonetheless. its only a felony if you have a prior carry conviction, or any prior felony convictions, have drugs, or are deemed to be in a gang.

I like to keep my clip in the the 2nd overhead sunglass holder, and the pistol in the 1st large overhead holder. Drops down fast, and my pistol is never loaded,in case I get pulled over. Of course,my permit expired,so time to get it reinstated,so I can reunite the two. It's a little Llama .380,but it does the job.

California law has not changed .......Caring a weapon like that in California is a serious offense, you must either have concealed registered permit to carry otherwise if i pull you over your going to jail. Gov. Schwarzenegger has made this a high priority in the state of California- for the (good or bad) the State also keeps the weapon.

WILLTHRILL, Back when I lived in California I would have given my left testicle to be able to obtain a ccw permit, but as an average citizen with a clean record etc. JUST TRY AND GET ONE!!! I lived in Orange County and the Sheriff there at that time issued something like 15 permits a year...guess which campaign contributors got one of them. The Sheriff's policy of basically non-issuance forced me to become a criminal by carrying illegally at times. California needs to loosen up and fall in line with most of the rest of the country who issue permits based on a citizen's record and not their political contributions. Arnold needs to wise up and do what he can to make California a "shall issue" state. The fees from all the law abiding citizens looking to protect themselves alone would probably take care of his budget deficit. When will folks realize that law enforcement, as hard as they try, cannot always be there at the time they're needed. "When seconds count...help is only minutes away." The individual must realize that in a crisis situation there will be a period of time when he's on his own. The criminals have guns and so should the rest of us.
