Center Divider Console Swap?????

Can someone tell me if the center divider console on a 2009 Titan can be swaped out easily? I bought a less than loaded model (for a work truck) and it came with this ultra lame HUGE center console that does NOT open to allow for storage. I need to change it. Is it a *****? Can I purchase it from Nissan. So many questions, so few brain cells remaining, sorry.

When I purchased the truck, it came with a center divider console that has no storage. It's just a HUGE arm rest, I don't get the point to that but, I'd like to swap it out with a console that opens and provides some storage. I'd like to avoid using a third party console that sits on the seat if I can. I prefer a factory replacement. Can this be done?

so you have the column shift with the bench style seat with the flip down arm rest..... and you want to gain some storage within the arm rest? I thought the arm rest opened up for storage?

(i've never been in a Titan without the captains chairs if you can believe it)

Interesting... i have the bench seat w/ flip down center console and there is plenty of storage in there. Perhaps you are speaking of something new/different that comes on the XE models?

Have any pictures?

The newer model deleted the storage bin in the fold down seat back of the Bench seat models. I saw this on display at a meet in Richmond, VA about a year ago. Maybe the 2008.5's and up?

I haven't heard of anyone making this switch to the older unit, but I think it is physically possible. But the fabric/color may never match. You'll have to look at both kinds. Price the Center piece at dealer and look around for an online junkyard. Sometimes a totaled Titan is sold on site for parts.

yeah look on ebay. I've even seen a few times the captains chairs center console pretty cheap!

That would be even more work, and have a shifter area that wouldn't do anything, but could be Modded!

It would be interesting to see someone remove the center seat and create something totally new, besides just fiberglass speaker enclosures. Only takes 4 bolts to take out the center! Don't mess with the little box on the floor though, the Airbag controller is under there, and very sensitive.

You got it. It has NO storage in the arm rest. That bites. I never thought to check a junk yard, good idea. It's a 2009 XE. Pretty raw. I'll check my local junk yard. Is it hard to remove?

I hate my captains with center shifter. Would like to go back to bench with that big arm rest.

I've even seen some XE KC models with no center seat or console. The worst part is that you have no arm rests. I had a Ranger with a straight bench, ended up using a cooler as an arm rest. I have to agree with above, the bench with armrest/console is better than buckets.

Unless the owner removed the center seat, all Bench seats will still have a fold down Seat back, that is an armrest when in the Down position. It is surprising they eliminated the storage feature, maybe an easy money saver for them?

One member here, was using an air wrench around the cup holder device above the airbag controller, and the vibration somehow set off the airbag. Scared him to death and caused him to make a call to his insurance company!

I hold to the opinion that the cover is shaped as a cup holder, because the Titan "E" Work truck, which was announced in 03 but never produced, would have been a 2 or 5 seater, no center seat.
