I have been trying to find someone that manufactures an in car holster that doesn't 1. strap around your entire seat, 2. doesn't have a 1' tall stand that exposes the weapon completely, and 3. is a cheap and easy solution.
Needless to say... didn't find one. So what does any good redneck do??? I made my own cheap version that actually wound up looking and functioning pretty good.
Here is what you need:
1 - Mike's RH IWB holster that fits your weapon of choice ($10.99)
1 - 1/8" drill bit ($1.00)
1 - self tapping screw that will freely fit in the hole you drill ($0.10)
Total = $12.09 + uncle sam
Directions:
Take your holster and drill a small hole in the belt clip approximately 1/2 -1 1/2" up from the bottom of the clip (obviously centered left to right) pending the size of your barrel length. Mine is a p232 3" barrel and I positioned the hole roughly 3/4".
*** Make sure that where the hole is made, you can still stick a screw driver on it to screw it into your center console. The higher the better. Just be careful with the plastic clips on the Mike's holsters.
Stick the screw into the clip from the inside out. This is the attached drawing.
Next figure out where you want to mount your holster and then screw it into place. Be careful not to strip the plastic that you are screwing into.

Yeah I thought about doin that but couldn't see screwing a 30-40 dollar fobus holster into my center console. Additionally I think it is worthless to place it there if you are really carrying it for protection and not just show. It is like wearing an ankle holster, yeah you have your gun with you but I could likely beat you to death with a stick before you ever drew your weapon. IMHO
You could always to the same thing but you would have to create some type of bracket (like what a measuring tape slides on to) and screw it under your steering column or somehow fasten it under your seat. Let me know what you do.
nylon holster?! please. get a serpa or similar with a lock tab and just screw it into whatever panel you fancy.
ive had a bad experience with guns + vehicles + thiefs but that would be the route id go if i feel like giving a gun away to some mofo

That is only if you actually leave the gun in your car unattended (I don't recommend that). Me, I take my gun with me everywhere. I simply put it in my car holster while I am driving. When I get out of the car, I put it back in my ankle, IWB, or paddle holster. Thanks for your thoughts though.
Rednecks are cool.
I've been looking for a way to keep my loaded CCW somewhere other than on top of a non-slip dash mat over the steering wheel on the dash by the rolled down open drivers side window of my unlocked vehicle while I shop at the malls which are heavily populated by young teenage gangbangers around here in Georgia. This should do the trick.
Just kidding.
I like this idea a lot but don't have a center console. GaDawg, maybe you and I could meet up and you could put your cool redneck creativity to work on my ride?!
Then later we can go get liquored(sp?) up and go shooting.
Thats pretty cool! Wonder if you would get pulled over???
I read something about this vehicle a couple of months ago. When they open fire in front of the vehicle while it is moving, it dumps enough shells over the windshield that the wipers need to be used so the driver can see.
