Now it's time to decide whether to pull the trigger on the install. The shop I went to does all of the local dealers work for them and when I was there I got to check out 3 cars that they had just finished. The sunroof that I'm looking at is the Inalfa unit, I forget the model number but it's the largest one at 37"x19". I have a buddy that works there so they gave me an installed price of $1150 and it has a factory warranty of 6 years and 60,000 miles.
On another note, I went in there looking to have the webasto hollandia sunroof installed and the owner told me that he has had nothing but issues with the hollandia roofs and that if I wanted that particular sunroof I'd have to have it installed elsewhere.

I had one installed when I bought my truck and I hate it I regret it everyday but I was told it would be "factory" its far from it what is the companies name
Honestly, I love my factory one. I know people without them don't think they're big enough... I've also known many people who did aftermarket ones... I don't know anyone who hasn't had an aftermarket one leak. And at some point, the installer is either out of business or tells you there's not warranty on it... And you end up gooping it all up with silicone....
I would ask the installer a TON of questions... Ask for references and then actually talk to them. Look at other work the installer has done. Seriously... I know it sounds like a lot of hassle... but I'd hate to see all that silicone goop on my roof after I forked over $1200!!!
i wish i had a sunroof, but i cant trust somebody cutting up my roof.. I didnt even think about a sunroof when I was buying the truck, I wish I would have. let us know what happens.

Yeah.. rcantu had one wicked sunroof... and I believe the process I described was exactly what he did to find that installer.... Do your homework... don't regret it later.
Well I'm not worried about this company going out of business, they've been around for a long time and like I said, they get all of the local dealers work from remote starters to moonroofs. They've done thousands of roofs in the past and they even do repairs on factory sunroofs through the dealerships.
I know it is risky which is why I haven't done it yet but it does carry a 6 year warranty through the manufacturer which means that if I had issues I could bring it to any Inalfa installer to have it repaired. And the thing is huge! I just sold my streetbike and feel like this would help soften the blow of not riding this summer. I don't know maybe I'm reaching a little.

LOL... no way a sunroof is gonna make up for a bike man. Sounds like you've done your research on the sunroof. Keep us posted if you pull the trigger and good luck!
