LEDs in Dash Lighting - 12V?

Does anyone know how much power is sent to the LED lighting in the switches that are mounted in the dash? I am installing a Bully Dog reverse warning system and I am going to install the factory sonar system switch and use it to disable the speaker on the BullyDog system. I'd like to have that switch light up like it is supposed to but I don't want to burn out the LEDs by sending 12V power if it is supposed to be less. The factory system powers the switch from the sonar control module and I don't have a schematic of that module to know how much power it sends to the lights in the switch.

Thanks!

All the switch get 12v feed to it. Now there might be resistor inside the switch itself to drop the voltage.

I hadn't thought of that! I was of the asumption if the LED takes less than 12V it was being reduces in the control module. That would be very convienent if that is true! Are you sure that is the case?

I'm not sure if there are resistor to drop the voltage but I'm 99% sure the voltage going in is 12V.
