Help! I need some real life stories and experiences please from those of you that have the window vent visors both Stick on and in-channel.
I recently (2 months ago) picked up the stick on vent visors for my 09 crew cab and I'm not real happy with them. They don't seal in the front to anything like they normally would on a domestic truck and there is a gap that seems to be widening everytime I wash it or do get it up to highway speeds. I think it's only a matter of time before the fronts start peeling back. I took it back to the installation place (they did a lot more then just the vent visors and I was back there for a box cover anyways so I asked them ) and they said they couldn't really silicon them or add more tape so perhaps I should look at the in-channel ones instead...
So I came here as I always do and did a search for vent visors and there is a little info and a few threads which I've read. Now I'm curious to hear about those that have had them for awhile and see the pros and cons. I want to be fairly certain that grass is greener before I switch over
What have your experiences been for those that have them (either /or and of course I'd really like to hear from the people that have had both).
Let me know what brands you bought the pros the cons and where did you get them, price range, anything you think may help (I'm sure I won't be the last guy looking to answer this question).
So far I've heard decent things about the "WeatherTech" and "Wade" in-channels. I think I have the "Putco" stick ons which as above I'm not thrilled with. (they are chrome btw which may or may not be a factor)
I've had both. In channel on my 07 and the stick-ons on my 08.5. Ive had the stick-on for about a year and half and they have just started peeling in the back on the front windows. But other than that I've had no problems. With the In-channel I had a big problem of water flowing in when its raining and having to roll the window down while stopping.(I live on base, have to show my ID to get on) When you stop the water would just follow the visor right into my open window and down the side of the door panel, didn't like this at all. Once I got the new truck with the stick-on's no more problem. I don't remember the name of the visors sorry.. Hopefully this helps..
Ive had both as well, in-channel all the way. Stick-on's lasted about a year and they both peeled off. I dont have any problems with water coming in???
I got the AVS in-channel btw

Thanks guys! Keep em' coming please. I selected "other" just so I can see the results of the poll and I suggest to others in my situation to do the same
AVS was the brand Etk? Have to look into them.
So far we have

WeatherTech - Good to excellent
Wade - Good to excellent

I don't know what they use but I know at the truck accessory place I went to they have a "special" chemical to remove it and ensure it doesn't do any "damage". I'm sure it's actually nothing to special in reality likely something off the shelf but they wouldn't tell me what it was (I'm sure a member here will know though, lots of knowledgeable folks around)
I have the AVS in channel and like them. I have been having them on my truck for 2 1/2 years now and would rate them as good.
I never was a fan of the stick on type because of the tape residue they leave when they fall off or when you take them off. Installation on the in channel is very easy. You might have to give them a day or two to seat properly though. Sometimes they will cause your window to automatically roll down if they are not seated in place properly.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the response. If you can remember how long you had / have them any issues or concerns and possible prices that would be great as well
Thanks for the advice. Sadly after checking out their website it doesn't appear weathertech is going to be a fit for me as they don't make them in a chrome finish which is what I'm looking for . Keep the posts coming guys
I have the Putco in-channel tinted and the look great the do the job and they give the truck a nice clean look that you wont get from sick on. the only problem I found is the saftey in the auto up function, my passengers side window kept thinking it was cutting a childs head off then it got to the top so it would automaticly go back down 1/4 of the way, but all I had to do is reinitilaze the auto function and its fine now.
