Question Torn Cats, 2005 Titan. Need CA Legal

Hey guys, just moved here from TX. Got my smog checked, passed with flying colors. The guy said my cats both have tears in them. I know thats typical for the 04, 05 Titans. He said i don't NEED new ones yet because i still pass inspection. However it is really annoying and sounds worse and worse overtime. Anyone here in CA have any suggestions and a cheap way out? I know most hi-flows are illegal to have in CA and will cause you to fail smog checks. The exhaust guy told me i was looking at 1k for oem replacements installed. Anyone wanna help me here???

If you're under the 8/80K emissions warranty, they should be covered, otherwise, I'd say to weld them back up.

so you cannot get the stillen B-pipes and the thorely headers? that is what I would do. if you pass the test, then why is CA so up the A-- on these things?? its stupid, you pass the test, that is all they care about. glad I live in PA!

Yeah, CA is off the hook. To use any aftermarket cats, they have to be on the approved list, and there is nothing for the Titan on the list.
