Anybody know what is involved in adding the factory GPS to a Titan not originally equiped from the factory. I have the RF package, wish now i would have got the GPS!

Not sure but

From what I was told its not possible at least at the dealership level. Im sure you can do a custom job but if the factory didnt put it in there from the begining then you most likely will have to get an after market Nav system.

i heard the same that the titan gps system will not be avalible outside of the package for truck. Aftermarket would be the way to go, there are alot of quality ones out there that use actual gps not the speed estimated version.

I'm sure you could order every "part" to build your Nav from Nissan, but I am sure it will cost you $$$$$. In a year or two, you could keep your ear to the ground at premium junk yards, for incoming Titans.

i did some research and theres a way..all you gotta do is purchase the screen area(The front dash about 150 bucks) then you can buy a tv screen and a aftermarket nav....should cost ya way less than 2000 bucks....im gonna purchase the dash for my titan Crew cab XE soon...add a tv(sony or panasonic) and a dvd player/mp3/cd....i did a quick estimate and it should be total around 600-800 total...theres also a new pioneer does it all system, i think its called pioneed NAV-1

sweet deal, sounds good, but doesn't the radio controls get swapped out with the dvd package, or are you saying to keep the controls and just add a screen?

That's a pretty good idea 907. I might consider something like that myself.
I only see it working for DVD players. Is there any NAV packages that would work with a screen setup like that? I also see if you got this piece in place, you may also be able to throw in a Nav system from a wrecked Titan/Armada/Infiniti in the future as well. All though I wonder how intergrated the NAv system is to the vehicle. It could get pretty complex.

I would imagine it being a seperate system, and tapping into the aux in for audio. You could stick a small dvd player somewhere..

I would be interested in that Pioneer Nav-1 I couldn't seem to find anything on google related to it..

Elbo-
Here is the link to Pioneer's AVIC-N1. Sounds like a nice unit and at a decent price.

I don't know.. Buffd.. The AVIC-N1 is motorized and integrated with the headunit. If you are going to get the navigation style dash and place
the screen in the location of the factory screen. You will need one of
the other Pioneer units that seperates, and can use a Pioneer or generic
aftermarket screen. Which is good news, as the non motorized/seperate
units are actually cheaper I do believe.

Also is the part that gives you the screen area, how much of the dash
is it? Is it just the screen area? When I look at a picture of it..

It appears that the screen area is one piece, the vents are one piece,
and the radio/instrument faceplate is one piece.. If this is the case,
then it is good. But if the navi screen area, also includes the face plate
for the radio, then it is bad... As the Navi and Rockford Fosgate, or premium radio have a different faceplate.

I checked out the dash for the navi model today at Courtesy Nissan. So it does look like the shroud around the radio is a seperate piece. I think they quoted me $160. He did ask me if it was the 6 disc model? I am not sure why.. It shouldn't have any thing to do with it.

i would be changing the entire thing....so here is the breakdown:
package one(economy):1. new dash with screen area(LE model) $150
2. tv screen sony or panasonic (either 7" or 6.5" whichever fits) $200
3. XE no radio screen dash(dual din opening) $50
4. jvc, pioneer or sony dvd/mp3/cd/radio $350

Grand total with wires and installkit $800-850

Package 2(Luxury for me): 1. Xe no radio screen dash(dual din opening) $50
2. "NEW" pioneed does it all NAV-1...i think its about 2000-2500
Grand total $2100-2600(unless they sell that unit for under 2000

Here is the way I plan to do it:

1. 7" Panasonic Touch Screen or other $200 (for Front Dash)

2. 7" Generic LCD for backseat $100 (overhead console)

3. Pioneer AVIC-90DVD Navigation/DVD system $700
This thing is awesome! It plays both DVDs, and does
navigation, as well as accepts voice commands, and gives
spoken directions. I will feed two monitors simultaneous, with sound in to the Aux, behind the dash. I will mount this in the center console, using the same plastic piece from the DVD holder from the Titans with DVD.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn..._34742,00.html

4. Use trim piece from Navi LE

Hey why go custom in the dash when you can get a portable GPS. I use iPAQ 3650 found on ebay and teletype GPS software. I get a PDA, traffic/weather via (internet) and GPS all in one unit. Yeah I take it every where wife's car, friends car, friends boat and ofcourse my Titan.
