update: alright, for some reason all the home depots around the area do not have any of the superstrut 1/4" cone nuts. they have other sizes, but none of the 1/4". so the only thing i see as options is go to a different size or order online. ugh.

Got er done!

Thanks for all the help, here are some pics, and tips.

I used:
~RockyMounts (from ebay 2 - $45 total. Locks included)
~1/4" Spring Nuts http://doitbest.com/shop/
~1" (stainless) 1/4" bolts, & washers. (hardware store)

The spring nuts hold really well in the Utilitrac channel. If you have a TruXedo cover mounted, the RockyMounts will work with the cover rolled to the cab.

If you want to side mount the mounts in the Utilitrac, they will fit, but my bike forks just barely rub on the TruXedo side rail. You may need a spacer of some kind to side mount. The bikes are very secure in the racks. My handlebars do stick up higher than the cab. (Trek comfort bikes)

I have more pics if you need them.

NDJollyMon, thanks for posting your pics! I had to go to an electrical supply company to get the superstrut hardware (thanks Yeti for the offer), and will install today. apparently none of the HD's around my area carry the 1/4" cone nuts, and most of the electrical suppliers don't either. so i got the springs nuts like you.

The Spring nuts are great. I bought extra, so I can mount something else with them. The spring holds them nice and tight in the track...almost like they were MADE for the Utilitrac!

I was going to put some Yak racks on top of the Nissan Overhead rack for the bikes. Glad I didn't. That would have been a huge expense, hard to rack the bikes, put them totally into the windstream above the cab, and I'd have to take off the TruXedo to use the whole thing.

This was a GREAT MOD for me. THANKS A MILLION for who thought of it, and passed it on!

Hello
I have a frontier, but you titan MTB'ers may like the mount I picked up.

Here is where I got them.
http://www.courtesyparts.com/frontie...ili-track.html

Picked up some locks from REI. Courtesy sold me Yakima QR's, Im sure Thule's or other 9mm QR's would work though.

Hope this works for some of you guys.

Welcome to the Titan board!

Yes, they have been mentioned before. They look good, but are very expensive, and don't add much to the much cheaper Home Depot solution IMO. Main advantage is that they are more easily moved/detached I guess. Still, $65 per bike, ouch! And that's assuming you already have the cleats.

But that's just my opinion. We're open to any cool stuff you Frontier utilitrack guys can come up with

Re: Utilitrack Yakima bicycle mount

I've been bummed for the last 6 months b/c Yakima said that they had nothing for the Titan w/ Utilitrak. I have been resorting to using tie-downs, but that can be a pain at times. I stumbled upon this thread that started nearly 3 yrs ago, go figure...Im off to Home Depot to get the cone nuts, hopefully they still carry them. Thanks for the great info guys!!!

Re: Utilitrack Yakima bicycle mount

Does anyone have a cheap solution for a wheel mount? Still putting the front tire in the back seat.

Thumbs up Re: Utilitrack Yakima bicycle mount

Used your same method. I too had to use the spring nuts but they worked great. I was going to remove my bed liner and get Line-X but I just cut out a section for the utilitrack rail and it looks fine. Thanks for the tip!

I took a photo but I'm not allowed to post a link yet.

Smile Re: Utilitrack Yakima bicycle mount

Bought the parts today. You can get the cone nuts at Ace Hardware. They don't keep them in stock at my store but can order them. The part number is 3035102. Thanks for this great idea!

Does anyone have any ideas about a cheap way to haul skis in the Titan bed using the Utili-Trac system?
