"black chromed" grills

In the endless quest for just the right grill for my titan, I was wondering if any of you have come across a grill that is "black chromed" in color? If anyone is not sure what color is black chromed, you can see this color on a bed rail at http://www.truckstuffusa.com/stainsteello4.html.
Any info much appreciated
Mike

I actually thought about going to a plating specialist to see if they could plate the chrome parts on my SE with black chrome. I haven't found anyone in my area that does this though....

There is actually another option: powdercoating - I have seen it done on street bike wheels. When I worked at a Yamaha shop, this guy brought in a street bike wheel with a powdercoat that looked identical to black chrome. I didn't know they could get that type of finish with powdercoating - but it seems they can. I have been thinking about getting my lower grill done in the color I mentioned - along with my rear bumper. Now I just have to find something to do with my upper grille...

This might sound "ghetto" but what about using tint paint and spraying the chrome grill?

Not a bad idea at all actually. I am just wondering if I am good enough with a spray can to do it. You would definitely need to put some clear over it though. I have never used spray tint - is it good stuff? I was thinking about spray tinting my tail lights...

hello,

i wish i would've found these threads before i bought my grille. i read they come in brushed, polished, and black. i purchased a grille from mr. grille and much to my surprise it went on with tie straps. my brother in law (the one who was going to install it for me) just laughed it his head off. needless to say it never got installed. i did what others suggested and contacted the ebay seller and he told me that this grille bolts over the existing grille. he promised there wouldn't be any tie straps. i also mentioned this site and he said he'd give me a discount. i was quoted $235 for both upper and lower to my door. i take it that meant he included s/h too. he wasn't too familiar with this site but he said if there were others who wanted the grilles to email him and the price would get better. has anyone dealt with these guys before? socal motorsports. i went to their site www.socalmotorsports.com but the links are messed up. i want to order a set but would like the better price he was talking about. any suggestions???

talk to you all soon.

hello imadogman,

we should contact him and get this thing started. i would love to get rid of my stock grilles. i emailed him today and he asked whether or not i wanted to keep the nissan logo. i didn't know i had a choice. the way it was explained was that he has a grille that has a cutout for the nissan logo, and one that gets rid of it. which would you prefer? i kinda like the big logo.

talk to you soon,

As you read in my PM to you, I bought a different grill. I can put the logo on the one that I bought...it is one piece. You would have to order one with or without the cutout if the pictures he has are not deceiving. I like the logo too..
