Unhappy Concerned about theft of my bed accessory

I have the bed extender which came with my LE. It's pretty easy to remove, ummm, so I removed mine and put it in the garage. Anyone else concerned about people walking away wuth some of your bed accessories? Am I just nutty or what? Doesn't take much to get in their and take it out. Don't know if it work on any other models, and I ain't in a hurry to find out.

Yes, I think the design could be improved to provide locking capability. For example, check out the locking TracKnobs here:

Yes, something like that would work perfectly. It would also be nice if it wasn't so easy to remove. At least deter some e-bay entrprenuer from collecting and selling these things. By the way, your truck was born the same day as mine.

The sliding tray is also easy to remove.

Bed stuff

Hey all

I was at the dealer this weekend looking at some of the accessories that they had on some of the trucks. looks like if you lock the tail gate that the slide portion is to long to get out. This is all thrown out the window of course it the bring tools to take the utilitrack system off, but if thats the case they probably wont even mess with the utilitrack they'll just take the whole truck.

thanks

right. I think since the beginning of the pickup truck, everything in your bed is always up for grabs. That's why so many people invest in a tonneau cover, hard or soft they add some security. Someone would have to cut open a soft cover to see what was inside. He might as well just break a window and steel your wonderfully functional rockford fosgate radio while he's at it. I don't have Utilitrac, so this could be a crack smoking statement, but it sure looks like to me (also) that when the TG is shut and locked, you would really have to hate someone to spend the time to get the accessories off the tracks.

According to my dealer, this is true. If you lock your tailgate, the sliders cannot be removed.

Even with the tailgate locked, all you have to do is remove the knobs that tighten the bed tray and lift the entire tray out.

z3axv is correct, there is nothing in that bed or on tracks that is secured by closing and locking the tailgate. And trust me, it doesn't take a lot of hate or effort to remove it. The only solution is a locking cover or locking knobs or doing what I did, putting it in the garage.

I use cable locks to secure the bed extender and divider to the
tiedowns on the bed. Although the extender and divider can be
removed from the track, the cable locks would have to be cut to
remove them.

Nr1, I think you've got something there. That is a quick, inexpensive solution for those waiting on knob locks or lockable covers for their bed. I think I will do the same.
