Power tailgate lock...

Does anyone know of a company that has come out with the power tailgate lock for the Titan yet? It wires into your electrical system and locks or unlocks everytime you lock or unlock the doors.
Also, same question goes for tailgate lift assist hinges. I have seen them for other trucks but can not find any that have been updated for the Titan.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The tail gate lock will be the same type of power door lock actuator that you have up front. Just goes in the tailgate and yanks on the cable pull attaching to the lock mechanism.

Most light electronic retailers, like Circuit City, Best Buy, Al & Ed's, etc. can install this for you.

The wiring will go through the tail gate hinge, under the truck, into the cab and splice into the power door lock wiring.

Edit: Phoenix! Not too far.. If you ever decide to come hit the beach, I'll be happy to help you out with adding the power lock back there.

i'm guessing there is a quick disconnect point so you dont have to cut teh wiring if you take off the tailgate...

As you would be wiring this yourself, you would be able to put a quick disconnect on. Best to be right at the hinge for accessibility.

Any updates to this, meaning has anyone actually had an actuator installed to lock/unlock there tailgate with an aftermarket alarm or even the factory? I just had an alarm installed and the installer said he wasnt sure, would have to go inside and see if it worked with rods or a cable, if it was a cable then the price would go up and he couldnt say for sure that it would even work.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Thanks,

I don't understand why shops are having such a hard time with the "cable" style of lock. You simply cut the sheath surrounding the rod and clamp the actuator to the rod that is inside of this sheath. It is very simple. Best Buy turned me down for power door locks, so I did it my self. I am not a professional with these things, so you know it was easy.

If you take off the access panel on your tailgate, usually 8 or 10 screws (panel that you see when you put your tail gate down to sit on) you will have limited access to the lock mechanism. You should be able to mount the actuator with sheet metal screws and attach it with a set-screw piece to the rod (or cable once you have cut and seperated the sheath). You will need to use some L brackets to keep the sheath seperated that you have removed the section from so that the locking cable retains tension and functionality. Wire down through, or as close as possible to, the hinge and then under the truck with split loom. Go along another harness, up into the cab and to your alarm. You can use a relay that gets signal positive voltage from a wire that you tap into that is hot when the doors are locking/alarm is armed. Power the relay and you should be good to go.. maybe add an in-line fuse in there somewhere if you want.
I have not had time to do this, I just manually lock the tail gate, but this is a project I would like to do. I had forgotten about it until you bumped this thread so maybe it will move up on the "wants" list. If I get around to it I will PM you a step-by-step in case it doesn't play out as easily as I think.

ahhh. Perfect! You should be a search tutor. Awesome links!

Wow! $69.95 from the second link. You can get the same thing with a $10 actuator (same type as shown) and $5 at Radio Shack for wire and butt connectors (water proof).

I Did the tail gate Power Lock install tonight. It is late here, time for bed, only have HALF of the tutorial written. There are over 25 pictures that I took and have to work in to the tutorial. Sorry! Will finish tomorrow and post a "HOW TO" thread for the installation.
Took about 2 hours, stopping every couple of minutes to take Pictures and make small notes to myself for the instructions.
I think following a set of instructions you could do it in under an hour. As far as difficulty (simplicity), it was about on par with rewiring the foglights to be independent.

Also, I ran out of split-loom and have to buy some more tomorrow. Will take fresh pics of the wiring under the truck once I have the rest of the split loom on there.
