The front of my truck gets covered in bugs. Does the bug deflector work very well? Have you noticed any additional noise or experienced any problems? Thanks for you help on this.
I would recommend it I had mine installed this week
and the installer noticed a nasty little rock chip in the paint on the front.
Bug deflector would have prevented this.
Since installing the OEM bug deflector, nothing has hit my windshield. It aerodynamically lifts bugs and debris up and over the winshield and truck. I highly recommend it.
Tech12Volt Enclosure, TechTubes Polished SS Step Rails, OEM Fog Lights, OEM Bug Deflector, ARE LSII Hard Tonneau Cover, Black Stubby Antenna, Volant CAI,
265/70/18 Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's, Garmin Street Pilot C530 GPS, PRG Mini-Lift W/ 2½" Front Lift/ 1" Rear Blocks, LED's Front, Eagle Eyes LED Tails,
JDM 6000K HID Lows & Fogs, SilverStar Halogen High-beams, LED Third Brake Light, Red Billet Aluminum Oil Cap, Red Active Tuning Grounding Kit, Body Colored Front Spoiler,
Mine was installed at the dealer. Highly recommend doing that. If you lose one of the clips, the dealer supposedly cannot replace individual pieces. You end up buying a new hardware kit. Mine performs very well.
Heres mine: purchased clear, color matched paint sprayed on the backside.
Protects the front hood line. Not a ton of protection for the windshield, but thats because I got the lowest profile one I could get. The more it stands up the more protection for everything behind it. I wanted low profile and hood leading edge protection. I go through them fairly quick here in bug land (FL), so I may get a taller one if this one don't work out. Pretty good so far, but big trip coming up soon, so it will get tested. It's a Lund.

i like the color matched one, although i'd need smoke. i might have to get one some day. how much did you pay and where did you get it painted at and how much was the paint / paint job?
After reading this thread, I made up my mind to go and get the Nissan deflector which I did for $70 plus tax. Upon installing it, step 2 requires that you stick tape to the hood so the brackets do not scratch the paint. Sorry but I'm not sticking tape to my paint anywhere except for the splashguards. Deflector goes back tomorrow. Besides, in comparison to other places in the country, we don't have a whole lot of bugs down here in Phoenix.

where in phoenix? were moving this week to the mesa area. live in minneapolis now, where the mosquito is the state bird. i was thinking of buying the deflector for the long road trip....probably go factory.
We live near the Metrocenter Mall. If you are not familiar with that, it is located north-central Phoenix along the I-17 corridor. I tried to set up a Phoenix meet last weekend (see the Phoenix meet thread under the general category) but it went bust. Maybe once you get here, I'll try again.
I went with the OEM deflector, paid $70 and am very happy with it. My primary reason for it was to protect against rocks and to serve as somewhat of a deterrent from pushing down on the hood and causing a dent. That said, I am extremely pleased at how well it works against bug splatter, I recently took a decent highway trip and didn't get a single bug on my windshield. Plenty of them on the deflector, however, which cleaned right up with bug and tar wipes.
