Unfortunately, that stuff is all pretty thin. The UGLIER plastic/rubber split tubing style is alot more protective against chipping paint on the edge of the doors when you open in to other vehicles, or the wall of your garage, etc.
A cheap and easy way: Get some CLEAR plastic/rubber tubing from home depot, or hardware/autoparts store, or any color you want.
It's about 1/4" to 5/16" thick (diamater) off the roll. If you have a steady hand and an exacto knife, just cut the hose to length and split it down one side. Even if the slit is not straight, you can still rotate the hose to fit as long as there no jagged edges, as the tubing is very flexible.
I think that tubing is ugly, but I put it on JUST on the widest opening part of the door that is most prone to hitting stuff, maybe a 8"-10" section. I believe it has saved my paint already.
The best tubing I have found is a hard clear plastic tubing they sell at Hobby Stores around town. It is used as "fuel hose" for 1/10 or 1/8 scale RC cars, planes, etc. It is less flexible, but pinches the door more tightly to stay on even if you accidentally grab it with your hand or something.
