In addition to many of the performance parts & truck accessories, TAP Auto is a racing part supplier. We are active in offroad racing around the world (Anyone headed to the Baja 1k next month??) and have had the opportunity to test 1000's of products in the field. We wanted to bring the best gear from Baja to you! Rigid Industries has been the leader in LED lighting technology since 2001. Used on everything from the fastest offroad vehicles in the world, to fire & rescue squads, border patrol & homeland security and even big earth moving construction trucks and mining equipment. Other light bars on the market put out a decent amount of light and may look similar, but still nothing comes close to the performance & build quality of Rigid LED Bars.
Now available through Total Auto Performance is the complete line of Rigid Industries LED & HID lighting systems and mounting accessories. Rigid is the top vehicle LED lighting system manufacturer in the USA. Through the rest of 2012, TAP Auto will be offering an introductory sale price to all TitanTalk members.
Redesigned 2-Row E-Series:
In 2011 Rigid Industries reinvested and redesigned the original Hybrid system to work with the latest Cree and Osram LEDs. This redesign netted an almost 50% increase in center intensity over the first generation optical system. Using the new optical system, current E-Series lights project more than twice the amount of light at the same power.

Re: TAP Auto GB - Rigid Industries LED Lights - The best LED bar built!
This was an article written for off road race teams showing the benifit of LED bars over standard HID lighting.
I figured I would do a little writeup on a newer technology that is making its way into offroad racing. More and more teams are switching to LED Light Bars and for good reason.
1. Size and Weight
A typical 8" HID with mounts, brackets, ballasts, rock guards, etc... weighs around 10 pounds. A normal race truck will run around 15 or more of these lights, weighing in at a crazy 150lbs. Combine that with a light rack and mounts, you are looking at over 200lbs of extra weight just for lights. Even just 3 of these popular 8" units will be over 40lbs!
A 50" Rigid Industries LED Light Bar with mount, weighs just under 14lbs. No ballasts, no light bars, no problems.
Not only does it weigh less, its more compact. An 8" light with mounts and all stands about 10" tall, add the light rack clearance and you are sticking up over a foot. With this high of a profile, the lights have a much higher chance of hitting every tree, possibly changing the angle the light is facing, cracking the lenses or snagging a wire. The aerodynamics are also affected, why do you think teams only run the light racks at night? They don't want the extra weight, dont want the added profile, dont want the extra drag. It is an extra hassle on race day that you just don't want to deal with.
A 50" Rigid Industries LED Light Bar Specs:
Length: 53.875"
Height: 3.375" (STACK 3 and still be shorter then a traditional HID setup)
Depth: 3.625" compared to 5.625" for a Hella Rallye 4000 HID
In this category the LED is the clear cut winner!
2. Light Distribution: Cut-Off's, and Hotspots
A cutoff is where the visible light field ends, creating horizon lines, almost like looking at the ocean where the water meets the sky. During intense offroad use, where the truck is bouncing around, your brain will actually concentrate on these areas. It is distracting to say the least. Ever seem like your light beams are bouncing? That is the cutoff you are seeing.
A hotspot is where light beams cross each other, creating a concentrated area of light. Imagine pointing all your lights one way, that would be a very bright hotspot. This is another area your brain tends to focus your eyes to, creating a tunnel vision situation.
These effects are worse with HID lights over standard halogen lights. Eye fatigue and eye strain are common problems with driving offroad at night.
So why are LED's better then, wont there be cutoffs as well? With 100 light sources compared to 1, the light is evenly distributed to create one smooth beam of light. No bouncing, no cutoffs, no hotspots, no need to aim your lights.
3. Durability and Life.
A typical HID light has an operating life of 2000 hours
A RI LED Bar has an operating life of 50000 hours. Yes, fifty. Thats close to six years.
If a bulb or ballast fails on a HID light, that whole light is history. With LED light bars, if one LED fails the rest stay lit - independent circuits for each LED. You wouldn't notice if a few bulbs failed until you crossed the finish line.
Big lights require rock guards to keep the glass from breaking, but the RI LED's have a non-distorting, optically clear lexan lens. Its unbreakable.
Depending on the manufacturer, your HID's may or may-not be waterproof. The RI Led's are 100% waterproof. Try them submerged.
4. Light output and power:
A 8" high quality 35w HID puts out around 1500 Lumens
A 6" RI Led Bar is rated at 1920.
A roof rack full of 10 HID's will put down at best 15000 Lumens
A roof with one 50" bar will put down 18500
The wattage on one HID is 35w (10 lights would be 350w, almost double)
The wattage on one 50" bar is 190w
5. Cost:
High quality HID's run about $500 a piece, a 10" bar which would be equal to around 3 HID's goes for MSRP $400.
Check out some of the trucks I have sponsored / supported. These are SCORE / BITD / SNORE race trucks.

The 10" SR-Series mounts up nice under the rear bumper. Be sure to order a cradle mount with the lights!

They were very helpful at O'dark:30 in the morning when I was backing up this week on a trail to get to my Elk hunting spot. They stayed aimed where they were supposed to, unlike my KC Hilites which ended up pointing cross-eyed and up in the air due to the very rough roads.

Re: TAP Auto GB - Rigid Industries LED Lights - The best LED bar built!
One big misconception about LED light bars is "Brightness"....Everyone talks about how bright LED lights are, but the real issue is light output, that is how much light do they throw down range.
Making bright LED's is no problem, but throwing light is what separates the cheap lights from the real deal....When I'm out in the barren desert or in the middle of Baja on a dark night having cool looking "street scene" lights are a waste.....

Rigid makes a lot of different styled mounts and they are very sturdy. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Correct! This is what I try to explain to those shopping around for LED lights. Rigids patent pending reflectors and lens' top anything else there on the market. They have spent countless hours designing and testing their optics system and have developed different combos of lens & reflectors that work great. They will outperform Ebay / overseas made bars all day.
To quote Rigid
"Our Hybrid Optic comes as a system with the TIR reflector (See "What is the TIR reflector?"). The Hybrid Optic system comes in either a flood or spot configuration. Our Specter Optic comes in either a Driving Beam or Wide Beam. The Hybrid Optic System out preforms the Specter Optic in distance, while the Specter Optic out performs the Hybrid Optic System in overall coverage. Both of these optics are great for their individual purposes, and if desired, they can work together for a perfect combination of distance and spread."

I'll have to PM you all tonight!
Too much is never enough when it comes to lights.

I LOVE my set of Duallys.....I could have spent less, but there's nothing like buying a product and having it exceed your expectations....that just doesn't happen much at all....
I want to buy another set and don't even know what I'll do with them yet.....
BTW - When I recieved my Rigid Duallys, I carried one around with a 9 volt battery and used that little battery to show people just how little power it draws to run....
