Just run some heavy gauge wire from the positive terminal somewhere under the truck to another terminal like the batteries. Isolate it from the metal. If the truck dies just hook up the posivite from the other vehicle or spare battery to the terminal under the truck and unlock the door. Don't jump start the truck from this location though. Simple.
GENIUS!!

The thief would still need a chip for the ingition...or someway to bypass it. And if they have a way to bypass it, you're screwed either way.
Throw a relay in there to avoid a fire hazard. Although there are plenty of 12v constant wires running places that would be almost the same concept (12v in bed).
You will need a power source to energize the relay to allow power to go wherever you wanted.
Then again, a hidden hood release would be easier and cheaper. You can buy a universal one pretty cheap form a local parts store.

Dont the XE models have a standard key and no chip or sentry key system?
Fire hazard. How is it easier to steal unless someone knows about it.

Think like a thief. Extended hood latch, electric switch under fenders, spare key in the gas cap or in/on bumpers. Deleting the key hole is just for cosmetics serves no real purpose. Hook it and tow it if you really want it. Nissan ran all their wires outside through the frame rail. There's a big wire plug under the passengers side.

Exactly, so why add a wire when there are some available should this rare scenario ever happen. Opening a hood is easier than you think without adding a cable. Cable is convenient. There is also an outlet in the bed if you have big tow pkg.
Ps : many vehicles dont have locking hoods either.
And if he really had to get in, buy a spare keyhole cover....
