I'm looking to delete my driver door keyhole. Has anybody done this? Can I just get a hole-less escutcheon like the one on the back door and swap it out? Do they just pop on and off or are they held on with screws and magic? Any other outside the box ideas?
2009 CC long bed, extra napkins in glove box, ejector seat, 2* timing advance, a couple pens and paper along with a flashlight and candy in center console, Justin Bieber needs to die, I turn the wipers on when it rains, cabin air filters, headlights are good at night, junk mail gets thrown in back seat, forward launching napalm, washing machine parts and tow strap in rear door pocket, flux capacitor, & a full tank of gas.
Recently added: Herpes all over stereo bezel, spider nest in flux capacitor, really bad fart/vomit smell once windows are touched...door handles are where I keep my booger collection.
jeez another guy that wants to delete something. But seriously, I think that part seperates in 2, the metal piece goes in from behind the door panel and the outer piece connects from the outside. Why not just remove the handles and everything else, fill the holes and repaint.
Its not about the remote dieing, its about the battery in the truck dieing, no truck battery = no power locks, no power locks = nothing happens when you hit "unlock" on the key fob.

Thanks for all the input. I love the idea of shaved handles, but I'd have a hard time pulling the trigger on that one. I like the write-up too.
I've got a backup power source, so I'm totally not worried about the truck battery dying.

Aaahhhhh chit...Nevermind. I have a backup battery for my alarm in case the truck battery dies. Has nothing to do with unlocking the doors.
Back to square one. Now I'm looking more toward a cover that can be removed (from the outside) if I ever needed to.

Just run some heavy gauge wire from the positive terminal somewhere under the truck to another terminal like the batteries. Isolate it from the metal. If the truck dies just hook up the posivite from the other vehicle or spare battery to the terminal under the truck and unlock the door. Don't jump start the truck from this location though. Simple.
