Bugflector 2: DONT BUY!

I bought a AVS bugflector for my titan and let me warn you not to make the same mistake i did! First off, the new Ford F150 has a similiar shape hood, so AVS is double dipping buy using the same bugdeflector on both trucks. Second, the holes are drilled for the f150, not the titan. And third, they decided it would be enough to just use 3m tape to hold it on instead of mounting hardware and there are no rubber bumpons to protect the paint on your hood so here's what I found.
After a nice 500 mile trip I discovered that the heat from your engine will soften the adhesive on the 3m tape causing the bugdeflector to slide back on to the hood, lightly tapping it. Well after 500 miles with no bumpons, it makes some really decent scratches all across your hood and it took me all afternoon to buff the scratches out. Needless to say, i went to the dealership and bought the nissan brand hood protector!

I'm a little afraid of any product that mounts with tape. I think
if my mudfaps didn't have that one screw in them, they would
have already fallen off.

I bought the factory bug shield also. Figured it would be less of
a hassle to return it, if needed, than buying online. No problems
with the install, or anything after.

Glad I went with the OEM Nissan one!! Not the best piece ever made, but it fits.

Umm. I have an AVS for my Armada. I thought the two way tape was there to hold it on while you shoot the (self taping) screws to it and to help deaden it. Mine also came with rubber grommets for the screws. I also spaced mine out a tad so I could wash behind it. The reason I liked the AVS was: It wasnt as tall as the OEM, looked better IMHO and didnt have the metal studs visible like the OEM. As far as it fitting the lines of the Ford I dont see hows thats possible, mine hugs the shape of the headlight perfectly. Are you sure they didnt throw a Ford in you box by accident?

I also have the AVS installed with both 3m tape and screws. After 5k miles with many long highway trips up to 80mph I haven't seen any problem yet. But I'll keep an eye on it though. Thanks

I also have the AVS and love it. Mine DID come with the rubber bumper thingies and 3m tape-on AND the screw that WERE included. Sounds like you had a halfass installation. 8000 miles and 100mph all the time and mine works great.

another option that has worked great for me

is the Lund Interceptor. 5k miles+ and still solid.

Not a bad price at $60.00 either.

I bought the Nissan OEM bug shield, a little expensive but not unusual when buying from dealers. It fit perfect, easy to mount except it was missing one rubber bumper to protect the paint. I haven't been able to find replacement bumpers but the shield was worth getting.

Check out the Lund Deflector. I bought the clear. It does have the tape. However, it utilizes set screws and rubber bumpers. I did not use the tape portion. Just left the backing on. It does not move and is a perfect fit for the Titan hood. I've had it on since August without any hitches.

I got the EGR superguard. It fits well, has no logo, and no rivets like the OEM bug shield. I wanted a clean look and this one has it. Two clips on the edges and one adhesive bubble under the middle to keep it from rubbing on the hood. Super easy to clean underneath as well, yet still relatively aerodynamic. I forgot where I bought it...just do a google search. I paid around $65. Install takes about five minutes, no drillingl Just a philips and you are done.

I purchased and just installed the OEM version. Easy to do...probably 45min taking my time. The only issue I have, is that the screws holding the deflector on are showing. they sit on top pf the deflector itself. Just not sure I like my screws showing. I have only had Toyotas before and they always had their screws hidden...made for a cleaner look.

I like the fit and everything else about it. I will just have to get used to the new INDUSTRIAL look.

Non OEM Bugshields

Can anyone post pics of their non-OEM bugshields? I have only seen the OEM version looks like and none of the aftermarket sites seems to have any picks of what their Titan bugshields look like.

Thanks

I like being able to wash behind it easily and it really reduced the windsheild splatter.
I think the contour of the OEM is a little better but the convenience on washing tips the scale for me.
