04 SE test drive

I test drove an 04 SE KC BT OR 4x4 tonight. I think I am going to make an offer Saturday. Does anyone have any thoughts on what to look for? If I can work out a deal I will have all the fluids check just to make sure the rear diff is filled correctly. Anyone know the approximate date when the quality issues were addressed? How about rebates? There is only 2K available right?

I still need to look at the competetion, but so far the Titan is the only truck I am really excited about.

Nissan engineers from Japan visisted the assembly plant to address QC issues beginning in June. Only recently did many of them return to Japan. Some stayed. So use that info as you see fit. Mine is an April build date and I have basically no QC issues except for some very small paint drops in the roof gutter on one side. No rattles, squeaks, or tapping noises that a few have reported. You can find the build date on the window stickers at the bottom center, look for a 6-digit number (i.e. 040414 = 2004 April 14). The more recent the build, then hopefully the less chance of a QC issue.

As for rebates, yes, $2000 for '04 Titans but the pickings are getting slim on the lots in some regions. Price a truck with the options on carsdirect.com and use that as your target. There are dealers that will match that price or go a little lower than it. Good luck shopping and I hope you end up very happy with whatever truck you purchase.
