Big Tow Mirror Got Whacked

Well, it has happened already. A box truck came around a sharp curve over the center line and hit my driver side mirror. It put 3 good sized scrape marks in the chrome piece at the top. Luckily the twin mirrors didn't break nor did it damage the electricals. Does anyone know if the chrome back piece of the mirror is a simple snap off and replace?

Yes, the chrome cap will just snap right off. You can buy just the chrome piece at the dealer. I think it's around $40. I changed mine to black and I have them for sale on ebay, too bad mine aren't for the big tow mirrors though.

Last week, my left Big-Tow mirror got hit by a F-150 passing my truck while it was parked in front of my friends house. It "spiderwebbed" the big mirror, knocked out the blind spot mirror (I really miss that mirror ) and broke the housing. When I went to order the new mirror, I was told the chrome was a separate piece. While the chrome was untouched, I decided that with my luck, I would break it. So I ordered a new one. The mirror lists for about $167 and the chrome was $40-$45. My dealer gives a 15% discount if ordered over the internet, so the mirror costed me $141 and the chrome was $35. I get to pick it up tomorrow. YEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

...and yes, I got the guy that hit it. He took responsibility and paid for the damage.
