Running wires

Does anyone have any pictures or instructions how best to pull away the A-pillar plastic and the headliner at the top of the windshield? I'll be hardwiring a Valentine One right about the rearview mirror, and want to run the wires down the passenger side door.

Thanks for any help

No need to remove. Just tuck the wire under the leading edge of the headliner. I used a putty knife to distend the headliner enough to push the wire in place as I ran it along to top to the "A" pillar. Tuck the wire under the edge of the "A" pillar and run it to where the it ends at the top by the door closure. Run it under the gasketing dowin to the fuse box area. There you can slip it behind the side of the dash and come up into the fuse box area. Lots of room there. The screw that holds the fuse block to the metal dash pan easily accepts a "U" type crimp connector for the ground. Just loosen and slip it under.

For the positive power connection I've alway used a mini-fuse block add-on. Slick little device that you pull an ignition fuse and put this little device in its place. It provides a place for the original circuit fuse and a place for an additional fuse that is wired to a pigtail hot lead, pre crimped with a female bullet connector. It's a heck of a lot cleaner than using a T-Tap or stuffing a wire end under an existing fuse.

You can pick up the Mini-Fuse Add On at Auto-Zone and Pep-Boys. About $4.00

Here's a link so you can see what I'm talking about: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...number=071-580

So easy to pop the sloped cover from the overhead console and find 12 volts going to the overhead lights. I actually installed a power socket in the sloped panel and I plug my Escort into the power plug. My Escort has a light and mute button on the plug and so I did not want to hard wire.

When I was running strobes in my truck, I put the switches in the sloped portion of the headliner where the sun roof controls are. If you have them, the wiring makes for a great place to power a detector.

I hardwired my V1 into the rear view mirror power. Works fine. No need to fuss with all the column removal, etc.

Yeah, once it finally gets here, I'm hoping to install it during my vacation. I'll probably run the external wire through the cut out left for the power lines for the rear view mirror, as mine isn't powered, I've got the space.

Hoefully I'll have some pics and a V1 status report that doesn't include speeding tickets.

Well, you may not have a powered mirror, but I bet you have the wires up there for it.
