Adventure I Truck Tent

I have thought about getting a truck bed tent for a few years now. I have seen a few different brands, and decided on this one. I cannot be happier with my purchase. This is so easy to put up and tear down. It only takes one person about 10 to 15 minutes to put up, and 5 to 10 minutes to tear down and pack up. The first thing that I noticed is the bag that it comes in. Don't you get frustrated with tents that you have to have two people to roll it up as tight as you can, and then still have the hardest time getting it in the bag, and then wonder what the hell you're going to do with the poles and steaks? This one has plenty of room in the bag, so you can roll it all up by yourself, and still have plenty of room for the poles. Oh yeah, and there are no steaks 'cause it's all secured to your truck.
Erecting the tent is very simple. Just slip the end over the open tailgate, attach some clips on the inside of the bed rail, and three poles. Then two poles for the rain fly, and some velcro and clips, slip the poles into the pocket and and you're done. It has windows and screens on every side. It even has a passthrough for the sliding rear window. I love this setup. It fits a queen size air mattress with plenty of room to spare.

It was a bit cold, but I wanted to put it up to take some pictures. I can't wait for the summertime again, so I will get some use out of it. No more lumps, bumps, slopes and stuff.

They sell them for $200 on the website. I think it's well worth it if you camp more than a couple of times a year. It's really good quality, and soooo easy to put up and tear down. I'm trying to get a site discount though. We'll see what happens.

We camp in sand. I have wondered, seeing those tents at trade shows, if dirty bungees would scratch the side of the bed, as they have to be hooked to the fender edge. I wish there was an alternative without straps rubbing.
The last one I saw came with WOOL sleeves to go over the straps of the Nissan bed tent, but it cost a bit more.

The main reason I didn't consider one is because the straps go across the paint. Isn't that going to scratch the paint up pretty bad?

I had a cheap tent from Walmart and it leaked big time so I now use a Coleman tent that has many weather proof features. The tent is awesome as we had a major storm taking trees down, and the tent didn't let one drop of rain in. In fact, my friend brought a TV for his son so we were all watching cartoons during the storm.

Hows the weather proofing on these truck tents? Are they guaranteed to keep the rain out?

My tent is an 8 person tent with 3 rooms. I got it for $150. I have a Queen Size air mattress and 3 cots. I don't usually use the air mattress as it's a pain taking up so much room. I don't want to have to deflate it and re-inflate it each day. The cots also put an air barrier between the floor and the sleep area. I also have a tent heater with a fan that works pretty good in 30 degree weather. Even though the tent has great circulation, it keeps heat in. It was a good 70 degrees in the tent.

Let us know how the tent works in weather.

Have a good one.

I have searched for a lot of tents, and this one seems to be the one I like the most.

I too am a bit worried about the potential scratching on the side of the bed, but I just hate the idea of camping on the ground because I have no control over the location where the tent gets set up or if it will be raining.

“Conestoga” style for maximum comfort & tility -- as known by the Pioneers!
- Fiberglass frame with color-coded poles for easy set-up.
- Double wall construction with oversized fly having front & back hooded windows/vents.
- Outstanding ventilation – even during rain – unsurpassed among all truck tents!
- Five-ft. of standing room throughout tent with room for 2 cots/bunks and gear.
- Nylon material, PU1200-coated fly, water-proof.
- Heavy-duty 200-denier material attaches to truck.
- No-see-um-bug proof mesh in door and windows, backed by rain-proof zippered panels.
- Ten-minutes to set-up; Six minutes to take down & stow.
- No floor - connects to sides – can be set-up and taken down with gear in bed of truck.
- Tent fits over sides and over front wall and around/under open tailgate keeping bed dry.
- Large double zippered window/vent provides convenient pass-through access to cab.
- Can be used with variety of vinyl truck box top covers. Perfect for traveling campers!
- Can be used with toolboxes.
- Three sizes to fit just about all trucks.
- Easy to put in stuff sack, compact 23-inch bag, light-weight.

You might want to see my other thread.
Does anybody have a Softopper?
I'm going out to Indy to see F1 again and have decided on the Softopper.
I know it is more $$$ but I think it will offer me up a few more options and I might get more use out of it. But I still like the headroom in the tent. The think I like about that tent is it does not have a floor, so your floor is the strong truck bed, and it looks like it seals out the weather better than the $200 one from Nissan. Enjoy the race!!!

Interesting pictures particularly the one on the bottom left corner that has a bed frame suspended from what appears to be the Utili-Trac or at least a truck with something very similar. Anybody know anthing about this?
