Replacing VS. repairing the hood

I got a couple dings in my hood a month or so ago when some road trash got kicked up and hit me, but I've put off getting it repaired because there small and the paint is ok. Well, today I got an estimate for $561, which was discounted from $661. One of the dings is on that sharp seam....or should I say crease and has to be filled, so it's not a slam dunk. The local dealer quoted me a new hood, unpainted for $552.00. Anyone know a good wholesaler that could hook me up, painted or un? I'm in Portland, Orygun.

Have you looked into paintless dent repairs? My dealer put 2 nice dents in my hood right on the front bend and they had them removed by a ding repair guy and you can't even see were they were. That should only cost about $100 or so.

Paintless is great, but they have to be somewhat smooth dents. The one on the crease.....where the hood slopes down to the side, is kind of square....it's on an angle, can't PDR that.

Try asking the professional if they can perform the paintless dent repair. If that doesn't work, here is a site that you can get stuff for cheap.

You should have seen the creases in the rear of my bed when I backed into
a mailbox. Found a PDR guy who had been doing it for seven years. He got
the dent in the hood out which was right in the curve also.

Be worth a shot to let one of those guys look at it, anyway.

I would at least have them look at it. They can do some amazing things.

Good find, but this site is a little cheaper. I've had very good luck with them. www.nissanpart4u.com in Gwinnet, GA. Although, www.nissanpartscheap.com is in CA, a bit closer. Good luck.

Coach, I do PDR for a living, take dents out of body lines all the time. No big deal, I don't even charge extra for those. Check around, I'm sure your local guys can help you out! Hopefully save you $450 or so from the difference of the repair vs. replacing.
ALSO, keep in mind, if you are very picky you will always know the truck has been painted. If you get a new hood painted or repaint your repaired hood, they will most likely blend the clear into your fenders and maybe even the A-pillars. I wouldn't want this on my truck.

Titan hoods have made me quite a bit of money
I have done a few recently for dealerships where the mechanic slammed the hood by hand and they want it fixed before the customer even sees their truck.

Does that mean I'm now qualified as a Nissan technician?

It's pretty neat to watch you PDR guys do your thing on these dents. The
guy who did mine took out the tail light and drilled a hole in there to get at
the crease I put in the bed.
