Question How's the Access Roll Up Cover?

To start with, I haven't had much good luck with covers. I had the crappy Pace-Edwards Jackrabbit Cover that should be advertised as having the ability to make sure that your tailgate won't shut correctly and to turn your bed into a pool. Two words, absolute garbage! Detailer was an @ss and wouldn't exchange. Was in 3 times because of problems and visits corrected nothing.

I then tried a Nissan brand soft tonneau cover. I believe the cover was defective in numerous ways. All of the aluminum rails were warped with pretty bad bowing. Since the cover came with no adhesive, water poured under the warped up bowed frame rails. Also, the cover uses Zippers. One end of the zipper stays on the frame rail while the other side of the zipper stays on the cover. Both sections of the zipper are sewn on. On the rail, the zipper is sewn on to a rubber piece that slides into the rail. Watch out if the rear tailgate section is off, as these rubber pieces will slide right out of their channel onto the open road . On the cover, the zipper is stitched to the vinyl cover. While trying to get the two zipper sides together (they're extremely tight), the cover stitching pulled out and ripped a nice hole into the cover. This was after only 3 uses of rolling the cover up. Nissan was great and gave me a full refund on the labor and cover.

So I'm now looking at a cover, the Access Roll Up Cover and am pretty impressed with it. The only spot where water looked light it could come in is where the side rails are clamped to the bedrail's inner lip. Since the cover's rail wouldn't overlay this seam between the bed rail's lip and the cover's frame rail, I thought water could work into the bed here. After speaking to an Access rep., she stated there is an adhesive tape to seal out water leakage there. I was impressed how quickly she answered and how easily she answered "ALL" of my questions. The nice thing is this cover was designed for winter weather and has no shrinkage according to access. It looks like a great cover.

What I would like to know from owners of this cover, is do you have any complaints? My main concern is water leakage, I want NONE. Hows the quality? Access pointed out their cover is made of the best materials to keep it from every cracking. It does have a lifetime warranty which made me a little more secure in a purchase. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of options in buying one around here. A good dealer recommended by my Nissan Dealership wants $469 for the cover installed. While not a great price, Access says it's a decent price.

So is the Access Roll Up cover the way to go??

I was also considering Sport Masters Low Profile Roll Up Tonneau cover. It just didn't seem as well built and their customer service sucks. They were closed already at 4:30 pm Chicago time, and aren't even open on the weekends. Also, many dealers around here don't carry Tonneau Master (Sport Masters) covers, but can special order them for a fee.

Thanks for the heads up, I really don't need another mistake sitting on my truck.

THANKS!

I have the truxedo lo pro and a friend has access.....The truxedo is ok, but I do like his Access much better...fits better and also on the rear part of the truxedo it is staight...the access is angled down like the sides....They both leak, but just not that much to complain about...either one is fine, but if I had to do it all over...Access.

When you say both leak, how much and where? This is a big deal to me as my drop-in bedliner collects all the water. I have the option of going with a Snap Tonneau cover. My friend has a Sport Master Slanted-side and it has absolutely no leaking on his F150 Ford. My dad also has a cheapo snap cover on his Chevy 1500 and it doesn't leak at all either. Water tight is more important to me than any rolling feature plus the snap covers are half the price.

Thanks for replying and answering. Have a good one.

I have the Access cover. I love it so far.

I have driven in heavy rain and take it through the car wash weekly. When I had it installed, I had them put a gasket along the tailgate opening to lock out dust and water.

So far, the only leaks I've had are at the tailgate and it is VERY minor (two teaspoons total maybe). In fact, it may not be a leak at all, but just water that makes it into the bed when I open the tailgate. This is after I take it through the car wash. No leakage whatsoever so far after rain.

The things I like about it:

Opening and closing it is very easy (one man job)
No leaks to speak of
Utilitrack still usuable
Install took my dealer only about 30 minutes

Things I don't like:
- .....

I've only had it for about a month now, but it looks like it will last. The cover is supposed to retain its properties regardless of the temperature, and after driving through the nasty weather around X-mas, I believe it.

I would definitely recommend the Access Cover. I only got it because it was the only soft cover my local dealer had on display, but I don't regret the decision.

Thanks guys for the great information. Judging we're using it on the same truck, it seems like a winner for me.

I did stumble on to a F150 forum and those guys really like it but they do say they have water leaks at the front corners. Have you guys seen any of this?

Thanks for the great information as it seems this will be the cover I'll go with.

I also have the drop in bedliner and will be using the standard clamp install. I don't want to drill any holes. Are you guys using this install also? Thanks again.

Have a good one.

I have had the access cover on the titan for 2 months and had one on the ram (about 3 years) that was sold before this. You may get a little water at the corners at the car wash.

Thumbs up access cover

I've had two access limited covers (1 currently on my titan) and in my opinion, its the best cover you can buy. I live in Michigan with 0 leaks and stays flexible in the winter months. Make sure you buy the tail gate seal if you buy one. Hope this helps.

Even if the front leaks crawl under there and shoot a little black silicon...won't hurt anything....Just get the cover

I just installed the truxedo low pro on my 2005 CC. I had a 2003 Tundra before this vehicle with the Access cover installed on it. Both of these covers seemed to be good. They both leak about the same amount as others have mentioned. Most of the water that I get is from the automatic car wash. Other than that the covers are watertight. I'll try to post pics of my cover in the morning.

I have installed the soft access roll-up cover, and had some leakage on the sides, I just tighten up the bolts somemore and I have some leakage at front of bed (by the cab). I talked with truckgadgets.com and access and both said to buy 1/2" insulation (thats waterproof). I had some 1/4" at home and tried that and still leaks a little, will get the 1/2" and see if that works. And yes I have the drop-in bedliner.

But I love it, will post some pics soon.
