Anyone painted their chrome grill?

I'm seriously thinking of painting the chrome grill on my black SE to match the truck. I'm really tired of all the chrome. Stupid grill is plastic anyway and I can't believe how much Nissan wants for them. Any comments or better ideas?

Thanks. Been there. I'm thinking I can get it painted cheaper than the cost of shipping. What do you think? Couldn't be more than twenty or thirty bucks.

I bought one off ebay for about $150 shipped. It's at the body shop right now getting painted.....for $75. I couldn't find one in my color so I just bought one to paint. What color are you looking for?

cost me $50 in shipping to trade mine with arkman0 in florida. he had smoke, i had chrome, it was a perfect swap.

it was $90 to paint my side bumper when i had a new one put on, so i'm guessing the front grill would be similar in price.

save money, get a better paint job, and got with the trade.

i see you have the galaxy black like mine. i got some bushwhackers painted and the galaxy is a special color that requires some kind of power almost dust to mix in the paint, if you look it has purple blue, green and abunch of other colors in it. he had to special order it, and it was more than the actaul paint and some of the labor. so do your research and see what it would actaully cost you. may be a suprise. if im thinking right the little bottle of powder was like $75

Thanks for the info. Another question arises from this info on the added powder. How good is Nissan's touchup paint for the galaxy black? I bought a tube and guess I'll see how well it works later.

The Nissan touch-up paint is the same paint as on the truck. It should match perfect. It's the application that makes all the difference.

I am defenitly no pro with touch up paint but from what I've been told is that you fill the scratch, not paint over it. If you are very carefull and don't get any paint on any existing paint (just filling the scratch) than you should not even see the touch up. So they say.....

My body shop guy said that chrome will not sand blast off. Because of the process in which it's applied it is a chemical process. All sand blasting will do is create an abrasive (etched) surface. The paint will adhere better, but still not the best. Again, so I've been told.
