What Type Of Wood Dash Kit To Buy?

i HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT DIFFERENT MAKERS OF WOOD DASH KITS AND ALL CLAIM TO BE THE BEST. AFTER DOING A SEARCH OF THE FORUMS, I REALLY DID NOT GET MUCH INFORMATION. SHERWOOD LOOKS GOOD, JASON B. LOOKS LIKE IT IS MORE MONEY FOR LESS PARTS AND I KIND OF LIKE THE NEW YORK DASH SYSTEM THE BEST. ANYONE BOUGHT ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS AND HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM. BEST PRICE? I LIKE THE BURLWOOD.

I haven't seen one yet TT. I have been contemplating the brushed aluminumfrom NYC dash, but they won't put any pictures up on their website of a Titan with a kit or a Pathfinder. It's kinda pissing me off.

Well, if you have searched the forum then you have seen the kit that I installed as well as others. IMO Sherwood has the best kits. For me the key was that the control label text is screen printed on the product (under the clearcoat) rather that a bunch of cutouts, the 3M adhesive tape is one solid piece not strips, and they had real walnut burl wood (no longer available). Their chrome accent pieces were a nice sharp touch as well. I first purchase a Woodview kit that was a partial molded kit and returned it because the simulated look was to fake looking, they had cutout for the labels, and the 3M tape was very thin strips. Good luck on your choice. I really comes down to taste and what is important to you. Some don't want the Armada plugs, some want the smooth rolled edges, some don't mind the label cutouts, some like fewer pieces, and some only like real wood. No one vendor makes the perfect kit. Each has their high or low points.

It looked like the New York dash did not have the holes for the extra air conditioning knobs on the Armada. The system seems to cover all the right areas but is a little pricey. I was just wondering if any one had tried that one. I also like the Sherwood but I just dont like the plugs. Jason B. looks like a nice set up but seems to only cover the center part of the dash and the shifter console.

I have this one, and while it is indeed real wood--which is very nice, you can wipe it off and everythign easy to clean

it does not have as much coverage as the sherwood (which is also real wood--if you pay for the option).-

The pieces are thicker so it definitely looks like an add on since the edges are not tapered thin

but this also add strength if you hit it with a tool or somethign it doesnt scratch

and I used 3m prep spray--and that didnt casue any discoloration to my dash

but I will say that the peieces have to be pretty warm to apply properly if they are mildy warm you run the risk of them tearing

thats a installer problem not a defect--just giving you a heads up

I have never owned the sherwood--only seen pics butit seems as if the sherwood sit more flush and has things like steering wheel covers, tweeter ring cover, and a peice that goes on the glove compartment.

-there is a guy on the forum who has the wood burl sherwood, and his looks wat tighter than mine

my dash looks weird as I have some wood, and then too much factory left over in my opinion

if you have the bench seats I woudlnt recommed it, since you dont ahve enough coverage to make it look "factory"--if that makes sense

the center console seems to look better--more wood to offset the factory dash

my rear cabinhas almost no woodpeices njsut two peices for the doors so it looks really bare--lol

my set, it may have been redesigned (since I know they have added some peices that I didnt get)--I was one of the first way back in early 04

and replacement or additions are VERY exspensive so be careful with your install

and make you factor in shippign cost and time as my set was not cheap to ship and it took awhile from FLA
happpy hunting
