Hey all.. my 1st post.
Just got my 05 Titan LE crew cab last week, and will be looking for some accesories....
My question is this...
I got teh Utility bed pacakge, and was looking how to attach a tonneau cover on it.... How does that work?
Do the aftermarket companies have a setup for it, or am I screwd?
I had been eyeing up the Titans for almost a year, and finally went and done it. Traded in my 01 Z71 Siverado.
I wanted an SE Crew Cab, with Big tow, Off-road, utility bed pack, and the fosgate bucket package. The dealer I've worked with couldn't find one locally ( nor could I ), and gave me a HECK of a deal on an LE with the same stuff, PLUS the DVD entertainment, and step-up bars.
Silver with the dark gray interior.
I didn't have it 2 hours, and a guy in an F-150 supercrew came by and asked to see it, cuase he was looking into one.
Love it so far. One heck of a truck and have been winning over my other GM truck owning friends.
Glad I found a place like this.
THanks for the welcome!
I got a LiteRider for my CC (literider.com has an action demo) shortly after I bought it last year, and I really like it. It is tight, secure, and works great. The negative is that for most trucks it attaches with clamps but for the utility bed you have to attach the side rails with screws. I was disappointed -- actually aggravated -- at first, but then I tried to figure how you could use the track to attach it without losing some functionality, and I couldn't. So I drilled the holes and mounted it and haven't looked back. I can use the full length of the utilitrack and there is no interference with the cleats (I don't have any of the other accessories).
I looked into a couple of other brands, but I liked this one best. I have had open pickups and one with a canopy, and I like this better than either of those.
I'm looking at the Tek Style Profile cover. It mounts on top of the rails rather than between them. Other brands are Truxedo, Access ,Extang, Sport Master. I prefer to drill nothing. If you use the tracks to attach the cover not all the accessories can work fully. If you go to the dealer and look at the new Frontier you'll notice they flipped the tracks upside down. It allows access to the under side of rails. I might do this but other than the tie down cleats everything else won't work. The Titan is a great truck. You'll never regret it.
I went looking all over for a cover that would fit the Titan. Settled on an Advance Folding Cover. I like it because it locks and it is a hard cover. It is meant to install with the Utlitrack itself. So far so good.
Thanks for all the input guys. I'll be looking into the many options I have soon.
I too will NOT drill holes anywhere.
All that snow here and no 4x4 req'd. except to pull out on the road.
I talked to someone at Extang and they said they are close to bringing one on the market that works with the utility track system.
If I hear anything different for those that are interested, I'll let you all know.
The truxedo and Access(know for sure others no idea) both have models that work with the utility bed pack. There are threads here that explain in detail how to costumize them to still be able to use the bed extender. Hope this helps.

LE Canteen Crew, 4X4, BT, OR to which I added: SS Brake Lines, Advanced Folding K-Cover ,SS Lund deflector, Black Prism DunderDan grill (I hope it's coming soon), 4" Prerunner Greg Performance Lift, The first Zoomers SS exhaust ever shipped, Volant Gen III CAI, and Chick's Hulk engine cover, custom A-pillar with 1in guages (coming soon).
As Money Allows: Nismo Headers, Dynatech 2.25" Powercats (Damn Missouri and your air quality) Osirus, Trutrac, Stillen (sway bar, big brakes, diff cover), and PrerunnerTraction Bars.
Thanks,
I'll have to look into those as well.
I'm partial to the extangs, only because I've had them on all my other trucks, and love em, but I'll see what's out there.
Look at the "Undercover" (www.undercoverinfor.com). I had to remove the util mounts from the side to install without drilling. In about 4 weeks they will have a kit that allows you to use the cover WITH the util track. Will add that package when it becomes available.
Thanks,
I think I'll wait until they make systems that USE it, since I don't want to remove anything to use it, or drill, etc..
I still want to be able to use the track when I need to.
Man, this forum is great. If they ever had one like this for Silverado owners, I never heard about it. Would've come in handy.
go look at the Torza Top a www.tonnocover.com
They make 3 models and use the utility track rails.
