I'm finally getting around to buying a toolbox for my Titan and want to install it with the J-hooks so that I don't kave to screw anything into the bed. The toolbox is a DeeZee low profile similar tot he one below but in a black powdercoat. The dimensions are 69.75" L x 20.5" W x 14" H. It is basically the same toolbox as the UWS low profile many people have purchased but the DeeZee is more readily available around here. I was wondering if anybody else that has installed a crossover box of similar proportions knows if there is room between the toolbox and the bedrails to use the j-hooks or is the fit too tight. I haven't had a chance to go and set one of these on my truck. BTW, I DON'T have the utilitrac system so I don't have to worry about the rails in the way. The place I plan on getting the box from would install it for $20 but I found out all they do is run screws down into the truck. When the guy told me this, I replied with "Not on MY truck you won't". Just haven't had it long enough to allow someone to run screws down into it.
That box is the Low-pro version of the box I have. I bought mine from Tractor supply but it is made by DeeZee. Anyway, I have the utiltrac and I actually had to lightly force the box in. I measured between my tracks to be 60" and the box measured 60" also. It fits perfectly. If you don't have the tracs you should have just enough room to put the j-hooks on. I think the tracks stick out about 3/8" or so past the bed rail.

Thanks QWIKWHIP, that's exactly what I needed to know. I'm going to buy it in a few minutes and then put it on this weekend. Thanks for the help.

That's basically the same tool box I want, but I'm looking for a narrow version (around 14"). I measured for a 20" wide box, and when I saw how much bed room I had left, I might as well have bought the Armada.
Cabela's sells a narrow box, low profile tool box made by Challenger (DeeZee), but I don't know if it meets the 60" inside dimension necessary to fit inside my Utili-track. I guess I need to call them.

UWS makes a slim line box. Their boxes are very high quality and I probably would have purchased one but the DeeZee was on sale and seems to be high quality as well. Here is a link to the UWS slim box http://www.uwsta.com/blue_slim_line.html . I got my box installed this weekend and will try to get pics as soon as I can. I opted for the black powdercoated version on my Canteen KC. Just thought the black looked better with the canteen. I am very happy with it so far. It is however, a VERY close fit. Would not have worked if I had the Utilitrack. Good Luck in your search. The dimensions can be found on this page : http://www.unitedweldingservices.com/products/index.php . I think it was the third one down.
I got mine at tractor supply too but ended up drilling hole in my bed to mount it. there was not enough room to squeeze the j bolts in
Yeah, the J hooks/bolts that came with the box were too thick to squeeze in there. I got some thinner one's from another dealer for free. They came with some other brand of toolbox and some people don't use them so they just gave them to me.

Thats great!! I thought about manufacturing some or modifying the originals but time didn't allow.

Actually, now that I think about it, the dealer I got the free J-hooks from was in another city from where I bought the toolbox. That dealer sells mainly UWS boxes so I'm pretty sure that's what kind of box they came from.
Here is a link to some if you need to actually buy them. The ones at Home Depot look like the thick ones I had first. I'd send the thick ones that came with my box to ya but they're 250 miles away right now. Id suggest just calling a few dealers and asking about them. Seems like they usually have extras since some folks just have ther toolboxes screwed onto the bed.
Well, nevermind... I went back and re-read your post and saw that you already installed yours. Well, maybe it'll save someone else from putting holes in their brand new Titan. I just couldn't bring myself to put holes in my baby!!
I had the same issue with my Tundra when mounting my toolbox and to solve it I cut slots into the side of the toolbox itself and built a bracket to catch the top of the J-bolts, and the entire J-bolt is inside the toolbox instead of just the threaded part. Might sound kinda confusing, but if I find the time i'll post a pic.
