Utili-Track Seating?

Has anyone seen any aftermarket bench seats for the bed that mount to the Utili-Track?

No...but does sound kind of cool. Except for most states have taken the fun out riding in the back of a pick up bed.
Those were the days...

Here is a link to the laws for all states regarding riding in the truck beds. http://www.ncsl.org/programs/transportation/Trcargo.htm

Here in Florida if it is a bolted in seat with seat belts it is legal. Otherwise it is a moving violation for the driver and passenger.
Get the statute off the list and look it up online for the exact wording in your state.

I'm sure you could make something using cone nuts, unitstrut spring nuts, or the utilitrack cleats, but I'm not sure that the aluminum utilitracks are designed to hold alot of force as compared to the interior seat & belt mountings.

Venom, are you looking to mount the seats in the upper or lower rails? This could make a difference in the structural support for concerns like bestatchess pointed out.

I hadn't thought of this, but it sounds like a good idea for going to the local drive-in theater. Ooops! Don't have one of those anymore, but a comfy seat in the bed sounds like a better idea than the bed tent. Someone posted a link to a website for a company that makes components that will fit in our rails. You could see what they have and build your own seat.

Well , I made my own seat for the utilitrac.

I shopped around bench seats and found them between $200 and $400.

I finally went to the junk yard and bought a 3rd row bench seat out of a Ford Aerostar. It was in perfect condition. I paid $29.70 + tax.

I took off the factory mounting brackets and made some of my own out of 1/4" hard steel. I used all grade 8 bolts and hardware.

I made 4 , 6" slide in rails for the utilitrack.
The seat mounts to the rails with 1/2" bolts.

It has 3 seat belts.

For everything - Seat, Metal, Hardware, new seat belts and shampoo to steam clean the seat = $170.00.

I will take some pics in the next couple of days. It came out great.

I can never find anything worth a damn in the junk yards anymore. There are people that make their living stripping all the useful parts and everything is always picked clean.

Here are some photos of the finished seat.
It folds down and then the Torza Top fits over ir perfectly.

The red cable in front of the seat is a dog run I made. I have 2 chocolate labs and they ride in the back. They can make it to anywhere in the bed without being able to get over the sides.

Nice! How easy is it to remove the seat. Show us the under side.
Labs must love the crew cab +. They are riding in style.

Tomorrow I am taking it out to coat all the brackets with rustoleum. I will snap some pictures of the underneath then.

It takes about 2 minutes to take it out and about 6 or 7 to get it in. Lining up the mounting bolts takes a little more time.
