BigRed, I have a couple additional points that need to be made.
1) Don't try to remove the door panel until you've also taken the last screw out, which is underneat the armrest. The armrest must be pulled up (work from the doorjam forward). It won't come out without some force due to the three metal clips that hold it in. And when it comes, it will likely come all at once so try not to hit yourself in the face ....
2) Once all screws and the bolt are removed from the old mirror, there will still be a "christmas tree" (don't know the tech term) plug that holds the mirror onto the door. So you'll just have to pull back to get that out (it's plastic and won't break or anything). If you have the new part (which you would assuming you're doing the install), you'll see it on there and know what I'm talking about.
3) The hardest part of the install is getting the old cord out and the new cord in - correctly. Getting the old one out just takes some wiggling so that the clip doesn't get caught up on anything. Getting the new clip in is more tricky - why? Because you have to work it around and get your hand back in the metal part of the door. Then, there is some kinda retainer piece of metal that the cord must be behind (the retainer metal piece is there to prevent the cord from being in the path of the window when the window is rolled down - if you do this wrong, your window will only go down about halfway. I know this from experience, but getting it wrong didn't break anything - just gave me a little scare and required a little rework). A picture would be great, but I don't know how you could get one back in there. Just feel around on the old mirror and get an understanding of how the cord is in place. You'll figure it out.
And that is it ... sounds harder than it is. I'm in no way mechanically inclined (learning though) and I did it. Installation would have been about 150 bucks had I gone to the dealer. So I made it out only paying for the part (154 shipped by Jaime as noted above). Good luck!
1) See??, I forgot about the screw behind the armrest. I don't know how I could've forgotten that one, took a few minutes to figure out how to get to it.
2) Didn't know what to call the "plastic christmas tree like holder thingies", that's why I just said to "pull straight out on the mirror to remove". That's the only way I could think of to describe what to do.
3) That cord WAS kinda pain in the @$$. I didn't get mine in quite right either, but it didn't interfere w/ the window, just made a clicking sound when the window went up. My dealer caught that when they replaced the run rubber in the window track.
It definitely sounds more complex than it is. It shouldn't take more than about 30 minutes, and that's if you take your time.

My little bottom blind spot mirror fell out. It didn't break, but the little ball that it attaches to inside the housing broke off. I don't know if someone messed with it or if it just broke off due to some defect. I guess I have no choice but to spend $160-$180 to replace the whole Big tow mirror. Nothing is wrong with my mirror at all except the little piece that bottom mirror connects to is toast. What a piss poor design. Little ball broken off = $170.00. Now that sucks donkeys.

I'll try the warranty avenue, but I am sure they will say it is my fault. My passenger door is hardly every used as normally I am the only passenger. I am sure they will say somebody slammed the door to hard or something. It is at least worth a try. I don't have good luck with dealers. They always seem to want me to prove that it is a warranty issue rather than them proving it is not. I will begin my prayer vigil now.

car-parts.com or ebay you can sometimes find one mirror....I got my set one at a time for less than 200 bucks...you just gotta look around...I did see on ebay someone making replacement mirrors for like 25 bucks so you might want to ask them some questions...just type in nissan titan mirror on ebay search

The dealership should help you unless it looks like you were in an accident. I would rest easy. I think your problem will be taken care of.

Yes! Yes! The dealer did fix my mirror. They gave me a little beef, because there was a small scuff on the outside that I did the first day I brought my truck home. I was not used to the big tow mirrors and just barely clipped the stucco creating a small scuff mark when pulling into my garage the first time about 14 months ago. The dealer agreed that the mirror should be replaced, but that Nissan will probably give them crap and say the mirror was damaged by the customer. I told him I might buy that if the big mirror was damaged and the outershell had a dent rather than a scuff. I told him to just tell Nissan the scuff was created by the tech putting the mirror on the ground or that it fell when he was removing it. The tech did have a hard time removing and inserting power/heat wiring for the mirror.
New Mirror: $160-$175.
Installation: Approx $100
Having the dealer do what he is supposed to do, and replace under warranty.
PRICELESS!!

I realize this is an old thread but having just used the information from TROGDOR and BIGREDTITAN to replace one of my towing mirrors I wanted to thank them. Their posts were very helpful in stepping me through the process. TT is such a great place to find how-to information. You guys saved me a bunch of money and heartache trying to figure it out on my own. Thanks.

This exact same thing happened to me today. Went to Sams club. Was in the store for 3 minutes. Picked up some pictures. Came back out. Got in my truck. Started to back out and crack. Get out and look....that little mirror fell off. The little ball that holds it into place busted. The problem is that when it fell off it went under my front tire and i ran over it when backing out. I don't know if I'll be successful with warranty in that case....
