Got the Volant installed this weekend and let me say, I like it. Certainly does make the truck run smoother, stronger and louder only when floored. Although I was expecting a Swoosh sucking sound like on the hondas. I Went over and saw my brother in law's AEM brute Force Intake on a 01 Ram and was glad I went with Volant. I believe the quality and set up of the Volant is superior to the AEM. But that is just my opinion...
Now what I didn't accomplish is the Fog Light install. The wiring seems pretty simple, I don't think i'll have problems with that. But I just cannot figure out how to mount it. First the hole doesn't have enough room for the power drill to get at it to screw in the screw to mount. Secondly, it's impossible to do it by hand to screw in the screw. And third, Even If I could screw in the mounting screw, How would I be able to tighten the fog lights to the mounting brackets, It would have to be tightened on the side..
I'm thinking now of using the predrilled top hole made for the stock fog light, and pook a screw through the whole and use a big enough washer to tighten it from the back. I would only be able to tighten one screw. I don't think it'll be very secure.
Also, I need to route the switch into the cab to mount on the dashboard. How do I go about routing it through the firewall or getting it into the inside of the truck?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please Help. Thanks.
When I mounted mine, drilled and tapped my fog light brackets. Then I drilled matching holes in a 1"x2" piece of 18 gauge steel. This creates a sandwich between the bracket, plastic bumper piece, and the metal. This worked very well..... until some a**hole hit my truck and screwed at all up. He smashed the hell out of my bumper and fender.
Since they couldn’t replace the smashed fog light that I bought (last year) he was saying something about factory replacements. The body shop ended up cutting me a check for $144, the list price of ONE replacement fog light. I went to my dealer and got the $199 stock fog light kit. If have to tell you... the stock fogs are much nicer... not only are they easy to adjust, the bulb replacement is also very easy. If I knew how nice they were, I would have just bought them in the first place. Not to mention all the wiring is already done for you. Also the fogs that I bought were glass, unlike the plastic stock ones. One week after I bought them, I got a nice crack in one from a rock.... the plastic stock ones are a less susceptible to cracking from rocks. If you would like to see my previous install, let me know. I will take pics.

I've got the factory fog lights in (part of the off-road package), and they are nice. My only problem with them is that you must have the headlights on to use them. The fog lights won't go on with just the parking lights. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

I've posted a message on here in regards to bypassing the power to your fog lights. I deleted it because I havent tested this "theory" yet and I dont want anyones truck to blow up. I do know that if your installing aftermarket fog lights, you wont have a problem with this headlights and fog lights being on at the same time. Just connect a fused wire to your battery, then run it through the firewall (I will locate a direction for the wire soon) and slap a switch on it. Then from your switch, run the wire to your fog lights. Of course you ground it as well. Do not use your prewired lines already on the truck. Your lights wont trn on with just your parking lights. Now you can power your lights anytime you want with any combinations of your regular lights. If you want to know how to have cont. power to your factory fog lights, just pm me. Id rather do that and give you some special warnings first. If you really want to know where to run wires through the firewall. I'd talk to somone on here that has installed a stereo system. More than likely they had run wires through there firewall.
I have two 6 inch diameter lights in the lower grill. The highest outside temp so far has been ~78 deg F and so far, not a problem. IMO the open grill area will not be an issue since there are plenty of places for the air to get thru to the radiators, coolers etc. A typical billet grill reduces the open area by approximately 50% and lots of folks here have them. I have heard of no one suffering any temp issues. With that said, I don't think a couple of lights are going to be a problem. Just my opinion.
